About The Lake At Barston Restaurant
The Lake At Barston Restaurant is a grill restaurant and conference centre in Solihull, set at West Midlands Golf Club with a view across the lake from the dining tables. Tribute act nights bring Abba and Wham tributes to a stage with a live band and a dance floor, so an evening here can run as a full night out. The pub-style menu covers roast dinners, fish and chips and burgers, with a few vegan dishes alongside. The venue also hosts large events and celebrations, and tables are booked online. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the lake view and the tribute nights, with Abba and Wham evenings described as very entertaining, a full dance floor and a good atmosphere. Staff draw repeated praise as welcoming and friendly, including looking after a birthday cake and fetching extra plates and cutlery. Food opinions split. One diner liked the piping hot meals and good portions, another found the roast potatoes underdone and the prawn cocktail a pool of sauce with a few prawns, and a third called the roast chicken dry and the brownie microwaved, though the panko-crumbled brie starter was very nice. A vegan diner described a tiny, mushy fried patty missing the cheese, lettuce and tomato listed on the menu. One lunch visitor reported a long delay, a stale tuna sandwich and cold fish and chips, and called the place tired and dated. Even so, one reviewer of a sound-poor band night still said a big yes to returning.

“Really good food at a really good price. Toilets are to notch as well and plenty of parking plu a view over the lake from the restaurant which is magnificent. I go at lunchtime but I see there are plenty of evening entertainment. I suggest you check the website.”

“I was blown away by this stunning place, we all were as a group of 5. Me as the vegan though did not have a great time with the food, I appreciate you have a few vegan items now which is so great! But my burger was really really shockingly tiny, not even the size of my palm and then my brothers big meaty burger was genuinely the size of his head 😂 ill upload photos if possible. My burger was served to me with a bun and very underwhelming patty, not the beyond meat ones, the weird fried mushy ones, which I haven't been unfortunate enough to be served for a very long time. On the menu it says the vegan burger is served with cheese lettuce and a tomato which I did not get. I understand your staff probably dont come across many vegans but we would really appreciate if you could put as much effort into ours as you do the normal ones, mostly because I had SUCH high hopes for this place after seeing how gorgeous it is, I brought my family here and want it to be our local. Really hope for the future you can provide a better patty and sized bun! I paid the same price as my brother but had way under half of the portion he got. And unfortunately this really did ruin the experience for me I wasn't even going to leave this review but if there's any hopes for better vegan food here I can promise you you'll have many more people coming here as were always looking for a nice spot to come to. I have a pretty big vegan family lol and also stumbled across some vegan/veggie reviews Thank you”

“Went here for lunch on a lovely sunny day in the week, it was pretty quiet apart from a few golfers having a beer. We ordered food,I went for a tuna sandwich and my partner had the fish and chips. Food took ages to arrive, pretty much a good 45 minutes so we had to chase. My sandwich arrived completely, the bread was all dried up and stale. My partner had a tiny piece of fish, few chips and pees, which was cold. We won't be returning. Place looks tired and scruffy and very dated.it desperately needs some tlc as this place could be amazing if it wS tiered up. Staff need a rocket up their behind, it's run by kids who have no clue how to serve customers. We walked back to the car park, all so very tired, scruffy and not bothered with, such a shame just the wrong people managing it...”

“For having a large event here, it is quite suitable, the view is nice, lots of place to commune with people and overall it is a nice aesthetic when you want a break. However, if you come here for the food, do not get your hopes up. The starter of panko-crumbled brie was very nice, however the roast chicken and brownie dessert was quite a let down. The chicken was dry and had minimal gravy occupying it which didn't make it a good eating experience. The brownie was dense and you could tell the staff put it in the microwave beforehand before taking it out and serving it to us. Overall, for an event it is good, but don't get your hopes up on the food”

“Love this place. We go for a fishing day out quite regularly... I don't fish, hubby and son do 😀 Staff are very friendly and service is excellent. We've not tried the food yet but it looks and smells amazing. Beautiful setting, very relaxing. If you're local I highly recommend popping in.”
