Customer Review Summary
Steak is the dish diners return to most, from a ribeye with black garlic butter to steak frites and a steak with mushroom sauce, with frites described as crispy and light and topped up for free. Close behind is the French onion soup, called piping hot and delicious, alongside scallops, mussels, potted crab and duck confit. Breakfast earns its own praise, including French toast with fresh fruit, a baked Comte omelette and a vegetarian breakfast with flavourful veggie sausages, plus strong coffee. A chocolate dessert finished with olive oil, sea salt and freeze dried raspberry is singled out, and the cocktails get praise too. Service is repeatedly called first class, with several servers described as friendly and attentive, and one reviewer suggests pre-booking. Complaints are fewer but specific. One diner found prices high and portions on the small side. Another, seated outside, was told by someone behind the bar that food was only served inside, and went to the restaurant next door instead.

“Had an exquisite meal today. Steak cooked to perfection, french fries crispy and light - full of flavour accompanied by a mushroom sauce. I asked my waitress Anna what she would recommend for desert. She advised the chocolate moose with a twist! Drizzle some olive oil, sprinkle some sea salt and freeze dried raspberry pieces - absolute heaven. I cannot fault this place and would highly recommend to future customers. You’re in for a treat especially if Anna is taking care of you”

“Ate here alone, place is lovely plenty of tables to choose from i arrived early evening it got busy as the night progressed. I would recommend pre booking. We'll worth a visit menu not extensive but good choices we're available. Presentation and portion size were exactly right. This is a place to feel comfortable alone or with family or for a touch of romance. Definitely recommend.”

“We had a lovely lunch at Côte Shrewsbury today to celebrate my wife’s birthday. To be honest, when we first arrived we weren’t completely sure about the atmosphere, but any doubts soon disappeared. The service was outstanding from start to finish and the food was excellent. I had the French onion soup, which arrived piping hot and was absolutely delicious, followed by the ribeye with black garlic butter, cooked beautifully and full of flavour. My wife had the scallops followed by the mussels and thoroughly enjoyed both. It turned into a really enjoyable birthday afternoon. Great food, excellent service and a lovely way to celebrate. We’ll definitely return when we’re back in the area.”

“Contemptuous service today. 3 of 15 outside tables ordering food. "We are only serving food inside" from the bearded guy with a thick accent behind the bar. So we had a great lunch, friendly service at La Piazeta next door! Food is OK when we ate here before but not good enough to put up with bad attitude. You lost a customer.”

“Absolutely amazing experience! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm, stylish, and welcoming, and the service was simply outstanding. Anna and Alin were incredibly friendly, professional, attentive, and always smiling. They made us feel genuinely welcome and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Their positive energy and excellent customer service truly made our visit unforgettable. This restaurant is lucky to have such an amazing team. Highly recommended – we can’t wait to come back!”
