About AleOli y Tu
Spanish dining at AleOli y Tu comes from a kitchen at 167 Frankwell in Shrewsbury, in an old building. The menu is built around tapas dishes shared between the table, including patatas bravas and gambas pil pil. A set menu is offered, and extra dishes can be ordered on top of it. A specials menu runs in addition to the main menu. A trio of dips with tapenade and humus gives the table something to share alongside the hot plates. The wine list includes a white Rioja.

Customer Review Summary
Prawns come up most among the tapas, from gambas pil pil to prawns with chicken chorizo, and the chorizo is a repeated favourite alongside set menus that diners pad out with extras. Close behind are the tomato salad, seared and grilled vegetables, cod skewers, salt and pepper squid, patatas bravas, and the tapenade and humus from the trio of dips. One reviewer calls the cheesecake the best they have had. Service is described as attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, the old building as a great atmosphere, and one reviewer who spends time in Spain says the flavours are right. The complaints are about consistency. One diner waited a very long time for bread, found the prawns almost tasteless and the steak unseasoned, noted dirty, outdated toilets, and left for another restaurant. Another found all six dishes lukewarm, bland and soggy despite quick service. Even so, one group of Spanish conversation students ordered every tapa on the menu, drank plenty of white Rioja, and all asked to come back.

“This is my favourite restaurant in Shrewsbury! My family and I always go back to Ale Oli and it is always a 10/10. The service is always impeccable, recommending different dishes, that we always love! This specific visit we tried the cheesecake to finish off and it was the best cheesecake we had ever had!!! The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is always amazing. Would definitely recommend and I can’t wait to go back!”

“Had a really super experience - been a few times before, but this time took my local group of Spanish conversation students, to practice their ‘speaking’ skills. It was GREAT!!! Fran ensured all everyone spoke/ordered/ questioned in Spanish & the food was absolutely delicious-wine far too good (we had lots of white Rioja) & the price was really good for what we ate (every tapa on the menu🤣) Everyone asked to go again, which is recommendation itself!! Love the place, the food, the wine, the staff & obviously the amazing owner!!”

“First time here but certainly won’t be the last. We spend a fair bit of time in Spain and honestly say this restaurant is absolutely nailing the flavours, quality and vibe. The service is also excellent”

“Found this spanish tapas restaurant on our way to the theatre. We were lucky to find a table. Absolutely superb food. The service and staff were amazing, knowledgeable and so friendly. Highly recommend. We will back for sure. Worth a train journey from Nantwich.”

“Service was really quick and attentive but I was let down by the food. We ordered about 6 dishes and all were disappointing. The food was lukewarm warm at best and incredibly bland and generally quite soggy.”
