Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips is the dish reviewers praise most, called delicious, with proper fat chips and a gluten-free version. Close behind is the afternoon tea, including a version with fizz, which diners found filling and served by staff who couldn't do enough for them. Others single out the breakfast bagel with hash browns, a brisket and cheese sandwich, and a full breakfast that a coeliac guest called outstanding. Coffee and the selection of cakes bring back regulars after walks, and the atmosphere and outdoor seating in the sun also earn praise. Two reviewers suggest booking ahead. Prices are the recurring complaint. One reviewer found a bagel and eggs on toast too expensive to order food, while another felt the good-sized portions justified the cost. One diner objected to a 13% discretionary service charge added automatically, found drinks slow enough to feel forgotten, and called the garlic prawn starter tasteless. One party took a doggy bag home from the afternoon tea, and another said their dog was made to feel welcome.

“We did the afternoon tea with fizz. Really enjoyed it, food was nice and really filling. Had to bring a doggy bag home as we was full. Highly recommend 👌”

“Food - Garlic Prawn starter was a bit tasteless. Fish and chips delicious. Service - was a bit slow for drinks, to the point you wondered if you'd been forgotten. Adding 13% automatically to the bill for "discretionary" service is incredibly cheeky, 10% would be more acceptable but automatically adding it all is an Americanism that should be eradicated. Service should always be at the discretion of the customer entirely. Overall we had four very nice meals and the staff were pleasant and polite. The place itself was lovely and had plenty of charm. Would visit again!”

“Such a lovely spot with a beautiful aesthetic and really welcoming atmosphere. The coffee was nice and the breakfast bagel with hash browns was absolutely gorgeous — fresh, generous and full of flavour. Everything felt really well thought out and the service was great too. Definitely recommend booking in advance, especially at weekends, as it’s clearly a very popular place. Will definitely be returning!”
