About Forge Dam Cafe
Forge Dam Cafe is a cafe on Forge Dam in Sheffield where orders go through a tablet, and a buzzer or digital number signals when they are ready. Self-service runs outside, and inside a person serves you. The menu includes a chip buttie made with thick chips and a chicken burger and chips, with vegan options alongside. Coffee and something sweet are on offer, and the ice cream comes in plant-based options as well as strawberry. A wait for food and drinks is common on sunny days. No music plays inside.

Customer Review Summary
Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are what reviewers raise most, with one gluten-free vegetarian diner saying every dietary need was covered and others pleased to see so many vegan choices on the menu. Close behind are the chicken burger and chips, described as arriving hot and relatively quickly even when full, and a chip buttie with thick chips. The ice cream selection, including plant based and a strawberry flavour one reviewer rated the best they had tasted, also earns praise, and one reviewer calls the setting quiet and calm. The complaints concern waiting and value. Weekends are very busy, with a long wait for food and drink. One burger was called dry and overcooked in an underwhelming bun, the iced coffee wasn't great, and one reviewer found the ice cream pots stingy for a single scoop. Another waited 25 minutes for a digital alert, only to learn their two coffees had been missed, and they arrived without an apology.

“Ice-cream pots were very stingy... Nice flavours but is this considered 1 scoop!?!?”

“Easy to order from the tablet, and the buzzer system works well. Excellent tasting chicken burger and chips which arrived relatively quickly and hot even though place was full. The strawberry ice cream was the best tasting I've ever had. Lovely friendly staff too. Can't fault it!”

“We attended forge dam cafe this afternoon after a walk through the parks. We ordered two coffees and sat waiting inside with our digital number waiting for it to alert us that our order was ready. After 25 minutes I decided to enquire at the counter where our drinks were. Oops looks like they’ve been missed. Shortly afterwards the drinks arrived. No apologies or anything. Not quite the service that was expected. Next time we’ll probably give this place a miss and buy coffees from the mobile coffee van in the park.”

“It’s a very quiet place with no music, which I really like. The food is delicious. I especially enjoyed the vegan options. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I would definitely come back again.”

“Being gluten-free and vegetarian. This can be very tricky when ordering food or drinks…… but I found the Ford damn café as everyone covered!… no matter what your dietary needs. Five 🌟 from me. How to get there. Once there, you can then walk down through the woodlands and parks to end up on EcclesallRoad or Rustling Road. There you can catch a variety of buses from either of these roads. They will take you back into town and to Arundel gate. Which is central in Sheffield for most buses!”
