Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return mainly for the full English breakfast, praising the bacon, sausage, runny eggs, tomatoes, beans, toast and mushrooms, with black pudding as an extra that several single out as cooked nicely. One calls it generous, cooked to order and very good value, while another found the large breakfast so big they struggled to finish. Close behind are the home-made pies and pasties, described as really good for lunch and takeaway on a cold day, along with cakes and pastries, a decent cup of Yorkshire tea, and ground coffee now replacing the instant one reviewer met on a first visit. Several call it a small, cosy, friendly local cafe. The complaints are specific. One reviewer says staff ignored them and they waited around 20 to 30 minutes for a sausage sandwich with no apology, and another found a large butty a poor portion for the money. A local musician was disappointed that a poster for their gig was taken down. Even so, one longtime regular says the breakfast has stayed consistently good over four years, with efficient, friendly service.

“I’ve been a regular at Café Pie for four years, and it has stayed consistently good. Although it is known for pies at lunch, the breakfast is what keeps me coming back. The full English is proper working-person’s café standard: cooked to order, well timed, generous, and excellent value. The bacon and eggs are especially strong, the beans and tomatoes are generous without taking over the plate, and the mushrooms and toast support the breakfast properly. It is hearty, straightforward and satisfying, with the kind of portion and cooking that make it feel like a real local-café breakfast rather than a dressed-up brunch plate. Service is efficient and friendly. That combination of proper cooking, fair value and friendly local-café character is why I keep coming back.”

“I bought a large butty , so cant comment on rest of menu. Poor portion, value for money none existent. I wish I'd have gone without .”

“Classic British cafe, freshly cooked English breakfast (lovely Black Pudding as an extra) with a decent cup of Yorkshire tea or coffee, as you like Very good value, I wonder how they can charge so little? Would definitely try one of there home made pies for lunch as well!”

“I been a few times now and the staff have got more rude, they left me waiting ages, they knew i was there but continued to ignore me or didnt apologise for making me wait 20 min to be served. They don't know how to smile or how to use manners, never had a problem before but I feel it's gone downhill. Learn better customer service or you will lose customers... 😏 waited 30 min just to get a Sausage sandwich, ridiculous”

“This is one of my favourite cafes in Sheffield. Situated on South Road in Walkley, they do a cracking full English. The black pudding is always cooked nicely and they have a nice selection of home cooked pastries and cakes for you to enjoy.”
