Customer Review Summary

Sunday and weekday roasts are the main draw, with reviewers praising the brisket as cooked to perfection and pulling apart at a breath, and the roast potatoes and crackling as crispy. One calls it the best pub Sunday roast in years. Close behind are the homemade pies, including a cheddar, tomato and jalapeno pie, and a steak and ale pie that one reviewer later found melt in the mouth. Others mention the fish fingers sandwich, smoked trout starter, chicken burger and haddock, alongside a great beer selection. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and quick, and one family credits them with a candle on a dessert and a banner for a 90th birthday dinner. The caveats are about the kitchen. One reviewer first found the steak and ale pie warm with a rock hard crust, gristly meat and lukewarm chips, peas and gravy. Another waited nearly an hour for food, and one found the chips bitter. A mixed-up order of beef instead of pork was fixed immediately.

“I just had the best roast dinner at my favourite spot! The potatoes and crackling were spot on—crispy and delicious. Big shoutout to the kitchen staff and the lovely little dark-haired waitress who made sure we had everything we needed with a friendly touch. The atmosphere was perfect, and the service was spot on from start to finish. Can’t wait to come back for more!”

“I can't thank the team enough for making my Mum's 90th birthday dinner so special! From the warm welcome to the thoughtful touches like a candle on her dessert and a cheerful banner, the service was absolutely top-notch. The food and drinks were fantastic, and the cleanliness and atmosphere really made the night feel like a celebration. Every detail was taken care of, and it meant the world to us. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion!”

“I have been occassionally visiting The Broadfield for many years since when they held live music but never eaten there previously. I visited today Tuesday 24/06/25 as i had planned to call into another local bar that was closed. I sat in the outside courtyard with a pint of lager and noticed the food looked quite nice. I was previously told that the food is of a very good quality so after speaking to one of the friendly bar staff i decided on the Homemade Steak and Ale pie Homemade Chunky Chips with Mushy Peas and House Gravy. I was served by a pleasant young lady. The meal consisted of a Pie the size of a Pukka Pie eight stacked chunky home cooked chips and half a tin of mushy peas. The Pie was warm and crust rock hard the meat was gristly the chips only warm the mushy peas barely warm and so was the gravy. The pie looked as though it was cooked at Noon and served to me at 7pm. This meal was a total dissapointment and cost £15.50 for warm dry Pie Chips Peas and gravy. The upside is the staff are pleasant and helpful but i wouldn't eat here again but certainly not after 4pm. I hate being negative but the meal was that poor on this occassion and the same pies were being served as i finished mine. Yes i did eat it i would't send something back i just most likely not eat at The Broadfield again. UPDATE: I did dine at the Broadfield tonight on Monday 11th of May around 7.30pm. No table booked and a table for two was found. Again served by lovely pleasant staff. I tried the Steak Pie again and this time it was much better. Melt in the mouth Steak and nicely cooked Pastry. I stand by my first comment but praise where due. My friend had the Haddock it looked and smelled really good. My friend assurred me it tasted it too and we even persuaded a Holidaying couple to have the Haddock too *****”
