Customer Review Summary

A run of lower ratings tells a different story. Three reviewers describe dry fish, naming haddock and pollock, with one calling it rubbery and flavourless. Chips are described as dry, small and bitty from new potatoes, or raw in the middle. Two say the quality has slipped from past visits, and one finds the price too high for what arrived.

“Fish & Chips were really nice from here and visited a few times whilst on holiday. Service was always quick despite the queue and staff were always friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit here for some good food!”

“Visited here after an afternoon in Peasholm park. I like the fact you place your order first and then wait for it to be cooked. Takes away the stress of queueing and waiting your turn to order. Simple but effective. We ordered 2 small fish and chips and a regular size. Not knowing what to expect - at first I thought they had the order wrong because my small looked enormous. The regular even bigger - the large must be humongous 🤣. 5 stars all the way folks - both chips and the fish cooked to perfection. The fish is beautiful, thick and juicy but still flaky - none of that dry awful stuff you often get at the end pieces. None of the greasy after taste you sometimes get either. It’s our new go to on the next visit to Scarborough for sure.👌”

“The fish was extremely dry, rubbery, and completely lacked any flavour. The chips were undercooked and still raw in the middle. This was a very disappointing meal. We used to enjoy coming here because the food was always very good, but unfortunately the quality has really gone downhill. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really good fish and chips. And that’s coming from someone who isn’t even a fan of fish! 😂 The shop is very clean, the fish is fresh and delicious, and the portions are generous. Highly recommended! 🐟🍟”

“Best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten! And the scraps are just perfection!!! And I don’t normally like scraps! I shared the chips with a friend and there was still so much I couldn’t eat it all. Well worth the 2 hour drive from my house. Can’t wait to go back!!”
