About Le Jardin Café-bar

Le Jardin Café-bar is a breakfast restaurant at 25 Huntriss Row in Scarborough, run as a fully licensed family café-bar that also welcomes dogs. The morning menu has a Full English with a half-size option, alongside Eggs Benedict. Paninis come with chips and coleslaw, and the Bacon, Brie and Cranberry panini is one of the fillings. Burgers, cocktails and afternoon teas extend the menu beyond breakfast, so the same kitchen covers the morning, lunch and the afternoon. The café opens daily. Extra seating is available upstairs, where the toilets are also located.

Customer Review Summary

The criticism is sharp and centres on allergies and access. Three reviewers say the kitchen could not cater to a nut or peanut allergy, with one saying they were left eating sausage rolls brought from Greggs, and another saying the cafe ran out of blueberries but only said so after the food arrived. Two warn that the toilets are up stairs, which rules them out for wheelchair users, though one happier diner mentions the toilets being lovely and spotless.

“Very warm welcome, the staff are really friendly and we were seated straight away, food wait was around 10 to 15 minutes and arrived fresh and piping hot at the table. Coffee served in between and when we had finished our food we didn't feel rushed to leave. We were asked if we wanted another drink and to let them know when we wanted the bill. Toilets are up 1 flight of stairs and more seating upstairs too overall a good place to eat.”

“My friend and I had a wonderful lunch at le Jardin. The homemade quiche was excellent. My friend had a lemon drizzle scone which she said was beautiful. The coffee was exceptionally good you can tell it’s made from a premium bean. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. This is definitely one of the best lunch spots in Scarborough. It’s spotlessly clean and the ladies toilets impeccable.”

“Not a great experience . Could fit wheelchairs in but the toilets were upstairs. (Not saying you don't have them doesn't make it acceptable!!!!) They couldn't accomodate for nut allergies and failed to inform us that they had ran out of blueberries until after they brought the food. Can't seem to cope with critisism either and where allergies are concerned... having nuts on the premises is not an excuse to turn someone away. It just means they don't want to make the effort to clean a seperate area etc. Plenty of other places in lovely Scarborough do though. :)”

“My son has a peanut alergy and most good places to eat will make the effort to make food on a wiped surface seperate and check the ingredeants of the items. It realy does not take much effort to do so considering its the rule to have the alergen info for all the foods in these places. WARNING for people in wheelchairs and who struggle to walk you wont be able to use the toilets as they are up multiple stairs. And yes it doesnt say they have toilets this is a warning for unexpected people going to the shop. I await a rude reply.”

“Can't really comment on the food because I couldent eat here, was with multiple people, and told that they cant cater to my allergy which is just lazy when you really look into what it takes to make sure someone can, LOADS of other cafes can too, it really isn't that hard. They let me sit with the people I came in with at least with my two warm sausage rolls from greggs and to be honest they looked better than most the food there anyway.”
