About Three Jolly Sailors
Three Jolly Sailors is a traditional pub in Scarborough, set in an old building at 2 High St with a spacious interior. It is open daily. The kitchen serves steak pie with chips, veg and gravy, which anchors the main menu. A specials board adds further dishes alongside it, including a Yorkshire pudding wrap. A large shady beer garden gives the pub extra room to spread out. Homemade sausage rolls sit on the bar.

Customer Review Summary
The steak pie is what diners return for most, served with chips, veg and gravy, and one reviewer says the veg is well cooked rather than a pile of slop. The roast of the day and the homemade sausage rolls on the bar also earn praise, along with a cumberland sausage and a yorkshire pudding wrap from the specials board. Reviewers describe the staff as friendly, welcoming and attentive, and call the old building full of character. Several mention the large shady beer garden, and a few note the pub is dog friendly and that kids portions are good. One reviewer suggests ringing to reserve a table because it can be busy. Value draws mixed reactions. One reviewer calls the price high but is happy to pay for good sized meals, while another felt ripped off by a fish and chips portion that was smaller than expected, with no mushy peas and a few wedges hidden under the fish. A third found the food bland, with no salt or pepper on the table, though the fish crust and chunky chips were liked. Even so, one reviewer left praising lemons in their tap water.

“Absolutely superb meal here. Staff were brilliant - very friendly. Food is amazing - recommended is the steak pie or Roast of the day. Price is high but happy to pay if receiving good sized meals and quality food. Great selection of drinks - reasonable prices. Atmosphere - the pub is lovely. We really enjoyed sitting outside eating our meal in the beer garden.”

“Went to this place after hearing good things from others ( clients of mine) . I ordered two portions of fish and chips and two drinks ( one soft) . I was informed by the lady in charge I had two options : one smaller £11 ish ( lunch time special or something like that) and the one from the menu a whooping £19.90 a much larger portion as she described widening a lot her hands in space . I went happily for the latter . (BTW no mashy peas available and a few wedges well hidden under the fish). The photo I include makes justice for what I received in exchange of £19.90 per person.!! ( width of plate same with length of fork) To top it up , when I showed this pic to other client of mine who had been there recently , they told me they got or either a whale piece of fish extending way beyond their plates or even two smaller pieces of fish . I believe that I was definitely ripped off. Well after this experience most certainly I won’t be going back ( I’m local ish ) or recommend this place to anyone of my friends or clients. ( 50 pounds almost plus half bitter and a pint of lemonade!) Food quality was just average.”

“A good traditional spacious pub. Large shady beer garden. Good service. I loved 2 lemons in my tap water, thx! I would give more points to food, has it not been so blant, tasteless. Good crust on fish, not so crusty, but large cunky chips seems from real potatoes from scratch. Vegetables not so over cooked. But like the never know any salt or pepper? Hopefully it's just a random bleep.”
