Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often come for live football on the big screens, with table service through the app letting one fan follow an FA Cup penalty shootout without leaving his seat. Peri peri chicken wings are the standout dish, one group finishing a 30 piece order, and another reviewer also calls the wings nice. Several praise the friendly staff and the brighter, cleaner look since the recent change of ownership, and a few call the prices good or fair. Food draws mixed verdicts. One reviewer found the shepherd's pie like a cheap ready meal with no meat, another called the beef burger mediocre and the churros tiny for the price, and one said the naan needed improvement. Cleanliness is a recurring complaint, with sticky tables, toilets whose doors would not lock and a leaking tap. Ordering problems also come up, including a rose wine that was out of stock and a match night order that took hours to arrive after four trips to the bar. One football group closed on disappointment that the MIXR app lacked the free drinks offer.

“We have visited The Scarborough Flyer a few times whilst visiting Scarborough and stopped by Friday dinnertime for some lunch which was lovely. The Staff are always attentive and go out of there way to help and it's great to see they have the same staff still working there. It's our first time visiting since they just reopened again after been taken under ownership recently. Although the changes might visually seem small to some, you can notice. We've always loved it here but it's so much brighter, looks cleaner and you can see the changes the new owner and staff are working hard to bring in. We are so glad to see changes been made for the better and can't wait when we come back in December to see what other changes there are. Thank you for always making our experience a good one!”

“We visited this pub to watch the England game. All tables had reserved cards on them. We manged to find a small table and 2 chairs near the entrance. The bar became very busy as the match was due to start so I ordered our drinks from the table qr at 9.29 pm we still had no drinks at 10.20pm and after 4 visits to the bar I was told by a very young looking girl who looked very overwhelmed that she had no ticket for our drinks. I should her my details on my phone that had come thru she then got our drinks. The following morning i checked my phone and discovered 2 lots of money has been taken from my bank.”

“What sort of place is this? No coffee, filthy toilets, scarmy glasses, bolshy staff full of lame excuses, overpriced cold food, a scruffy waitress and EVERY HORIZONTAL SURFACE sticky with weeks of unwashed spillages - that's the floor, the bar and the table we were unfortunate to sit at. The one saving grace was a decent bottle of sauvignon blanc (for about £30). In a nutshell, worse than the worst Wetherspoon'a I've ever been in.”

“It's a nice pub, but think it depends what you are going for. The foods not the best really, like a poor man's wether spoons. Chicken wings are nice, my shepherd's pie was not great. Yes I ate it, if it had been worse I wouldn't have, but it was like a very cheap ready meal, and didn't find any meat. Im not expecting chef style food at the price, but a lot better than it was. The tables are really filthy, ours was tacky, and I saw tables being cleared but not one was wiped down. The toilets aren't great, tried three that didn't lock, the tap leaked”
