About Scalby Manor
Scalby Manor is a pub in Scarborough on Burniston Rd, built around a carvery where a carvery chef serves several meats. Plates come with pigs in blankets, large Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes, plus a choice of vegetables. The sauces and gravies include cranberry sauce, mustard, mint sauce and two gravies. The carvery runs as a two-course option or as a large portion. Beyond the roasts, the menu lists classic bar meals and pizzas from a big pizza oven, and real ales are served at the bar. Seating is walk-in, with no reservation needed. The pub sits next door to a caravan park.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the carvery, praising the meats, the large Yorkshires, fluffy and crisp roasties, and a generous spread of vegetables. One diner singles out the sauces and gravy, with cranberry, mustard, mint and two gravies on offer. Several call it the nicest carvery they have had, and a couple from Bridlington say they drive over for it. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, helpful and accommodating, with one server praised for looking after a family with twin babies and a four-year-old and insisting on clearing up the mess. Reviewers also mention good value on a two-course carvery deal, and one party was seated without a reservation. A group of seven brought their dogs, who stayed quiet under the table. The one criticism is small: a reviewer found the pigs in blankets tiny and barely cooked, though the roast potatoes and mash were excellent.

“We were served by Maxine, and she was absolutely lovely from start to finish. We had our twin babies and our 4-year-old with us, so as you can imagine, there was food everywhere by the time we had finished! We tried to help clean up, but Maxine insisted on taking care of it for us and made us feel completely at ease. She was professional, friendly, patient and genuinely helpful throughout our visit. Fantastic customer service and a real credit to the team. Thank you, Maxine — you made eating out with three young children a lot less stressful!”

“Lovely staff. Carvery was pretty good with a decent choice of vegetables. Roast potatoes and mash we're excellent, but the pigs in blankets (see pictures were tiny are only just cooked). Overall I'd eat here again.”
