About The Bishops Mill
The Bishops Mill is a pub in Salisbury, set in a historic former mill building beside the River Avon at 7 The Maltings. A large patio and a grass area lie at the front of the building. Inside, wooden floors run throughout, and seating is spread across the ground level with some tables upstairs. As a Greene King pub, it pours real ales and craft beers, and the drinks list also extends to cocktails and less familiar bottles. The kitchen turns out street-food style dishes, and brunch is part of the offer too. Tables can be reserved.

Customer Review Summary
The riverside setting is what reviewers raise most, with a large patio and beer garden beside the Avon described as stunning in the sunshine, set in a historic former mill. Close behind is the drink, with an excellent selection of craft beers and well kept Greene King real ales, one reviewer calling a real ale exceptional. Food gets mostly good marks, and several call the staff friendly and welcoming, with one finding the service faultless. The caveat is service and kitchen reliability. One diner waited nearly two hours for a sandwich and a burger that arrived missing half their toppings, and was told with no apology that items had run out. Another waited over an hour for dessert, and the chocolate fondant came with plain chocolate sauce instead of the black cherry compote. Tables left dirty and staff walking away when caught by the eye were also mentioned. One reviewer found the bar staff frosty at first, then friendly later in the evening, and another was charged for two extra slices of bread with a crab pate.

“Probably one of the best Greene kings I've been too, food very tasty, staff really nice but not too nice ( if you get my drift) clean and tidy.”

“The Bishops Mill is one of four mills dating back to 1086. They were call that name because they generated rents for The Bishop Manor. In 1890 the Salisbury Electric Light and Supply Company acquired the Mill building. Later on due to their success the company decided to extend the building, this was completed in 1808. Sometime later, Green King a brewery acquired the new building. It won't surprise you to know that the Green King/Bishops Mill is right near the river. It's a lovely place to visit for a drink, and food. There is inside and outside seating, and if the weather is good, it's very enjoyable. The food is lovely, however the Crab pate starter was quite disappointing. The Crap pate was good, but we were only given a small bit of bread with it. We asked for more bread and we were charged £1.99 for 2 slices, astronomical! The manager serving wasn't friendly and seemed fed up! On our first visit there the service was friendly and helpful, but we were served by a different person. However, if I was in Salisbury again I would definitely revisit. Thank you.”

“Don't bother tables left dirty. Staff don't come to check if things are ok. Was kept waiting for over an hour or my dessert . Any time I caught a staff members eye they walked away. Had to call someone over in the end. Food tasted good but shouldn't have to wait so long. Ordered chocolate fondant with black cherry compote but just had chocolate sauce . Couldn't be bothered to correct it at this point as I just wanted to leave.”

“I would say avoid sorry to say. Service was very slow nearly two hours for lunch to be cooked. Which was a sandwich and a burger. Both of which missing half the toppings was told there was nothing that could be done as they were out of a lot of things. Was said in a very matter of fact way with no apology. In which case surely you shouldn’t be accepting orders for them? It’s a shame because it looks like a lovely place and a nice environment.”

“Picture perfect pub in a historic building with beautiful riverside terrace for sunny days. Food was good when I was there.”
