Quick info
About Kallos Cafe & Wine Bar
Kallos Cafe & Wine Bar is a Greek and Mediterranean restaurant in Salford, at 3 Bankside Blvd. The kitchen serves tinned fish, either mackerel or squid, with bread, alioli, lemon and pickled chilli, which gives the wine bar side of the business a seafood plate to go with a glass. The menu runs on sharing plates, so tables can order several dishes at once, and seasonal courgette and tomato dishes include courgette fritters (kolokithokeftedes). The wine list includes Greek wines, and coffee and Mythos are also poured, with the beer served in a frozen glass. The interior has raw concrete and exposed ducting. Dessert is portokalopita, a filo orange cake.

Customer Review Summary
The caveats centre on pace and consistency. One reviewer found service slow, and another without a booking describes a cool welcome, dishes arriving at random intervals, and one forgotten dish given on the house. That same diner found the mussels too fishy, the merguez flatbread slightly burnt, and the beef stifado underwhelming.

“First time here and thoroughly impressed both me and my 14 year old. To have a nonchalant teen boy note how good the service is, Your doing very well. Anya took care of us and was so warm, welcoming and knowledgeable without ever being too overbearing. We ordered 7 dishes between us two and can usually eat a decent amount. Every dish was so perfectly rich and flavoursome we had to take most of it away as we couldn't finish it. The wine also was absolutely stunning and so well curated. So refreshing to see new soft drinks from the usual too. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE TINNED FISH.”

“Absolutely loved Kallos Café & Wine Bar! 🇬🇷🍷 The food was amazing serving authentic Greek flavours, traditional recipes and so much attention to detail. The atmosphere has such a beautiful Greek/Mediterranean feel, warm, welcoming and full of character. A little taste of Greece in Manchester. Highly recommend! ❤️”

“Came across this place on Instagram and we booked it for an afternoon meal for our wedding anniversary. It was 3:30pm on a Friday so was quite quiet yet picking up.The food here was outstanding - I think it’s quite possibly the best meal I’ve had in Manchester. The waitresses were really helpful in explaining the menu and we were looked after really well - really great staff! An annoyance of mine at restaurants is when you finish your drink and either cant get a servers attention to get another, or it takes ages - not here; as soon as they spotted a drink was empty, it was cleared and offered another one.As I said, the food was exceptional; we had hummus, pitta (which was incredible!) courgette salad, feta in filo pastry, sausage flatbread… they even brought us a little dessert for our wedding anniversary which was a lovely touch. The drinks were great too - sparkling wine, Mythos (served with a frozen glass!), and Spritz were all great. Will definitely be back!”

“Had such a great experience at Kallos! The food was truly amazing and the service was top tier too! The beef cheek was the nicest meat I’ve had in a really long time! They took out a candle and some cake for my partners birthday which was lovely. Will definitely be returning!”

“Impromptu family lunch. Pitta bread unlike any we have seen or eaten. Absolutely complements the various dips and seasonal tomatoes, courgettes etc. Novel approach with various styles of tinned fish and variants of mayonnaise. Sharing plates giving plenty of variety.”
