Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers arrive after a change of ownership, and the praise centers on the spare rib clay pot rice, with the special fried rice, Singapore fried noodles and ribs in black bean sauce close behind. Diners describe huge portions, food that was fresh and still hot after the trip home, and no greasy feeling. Several mention the owner or staff handing out complimentary fruit at the end of the meal, and one points to the lazy Susan tables for group dining. One group noted a discount for paying cash. A smaller set of reviewers, including long-time customers, say the menu no longer resembles the old Dragon City. They describe higher prices, smaller portions and average cooking, and one says the satay and black bean dishes were bland and mostly small diced onions and green peppers, so more than half the meal was discarded. Another found the dry beef ho fun looked different and the beef a little tough, though it tasted good. Cash only and no alcohol also drew complaints, and two reviewers say the name should change. Even so, the owner's complimentary fruit at the close of the meal is the detail diners return to.

“I’ve been going to this Chinese for 20 plus years, the new owners are nice people but terribly average chefs. Price increase with food quality decrease. Truly gutted. They should change the name because dragon city is gone.”

“Under new ownership. Genuinely excellent food, friendly staff & good value. Interesting mix of local dishes and takeaway classics done well. The lazy Susan tables make group dining a fun experience. Will be returning again soon.”

“I had a delicious special fried rice, curry sauce, vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers this evening. The special fried rice was a huge portion and tasted divine! I didn’t get that greasy feeling or taste as I have with other Chinese takeaways!I went in the restaurant to order.Service was quick and the lady taking orders was very friendly. It took me 15 minutes to get home and it was still hot! Was nice to see a dining area to now eat in. I will definitely be back!”

“Never knew this place existed, read the reviews and decided to give it a try since apparently they changed management. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but all went well. There was a table of 15 people and the waitress let us know that the food may take awhile, which was fine. Ordered salt and pepper squid, deep fried shrimp rolls, dry beef ho fun and filet steak in black bean sauce. All dishes were made fresh, the ho fun didn’t look like it usually does, the beef was a lil tough, but tasted good . Was given complimentary fruit at the end of the meal. And got a discount for paying with cash.”

“Really lovely new chinese restaurant that has opened up in Sale. We got the spare rib claypot rice and the taro and meat dim sum. It was delicious and something different from other restaurants. The owner was really generous and friendly and had given us fruit at the end of the meal! Would come back again”
