About Eat East
On Peter St in Altrincham, Eat East is a Chinese takeaway that runs as a canteen-style diner. The kitchen cooks across Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese and Malaysian cuisines, so one menu spans several traditions. Starters include prawn toast, and salt and pepper spare ribs sit alongside a range of noodle dishes. Anyone wanting a shared plate can order the salt and pepper box, which pairs ribs, chicken wings and chips.

Customer Review Summary
Praise centres on the vegetarian dishes, which one regular calls full of flavour and authentic, and a couple of long-time customers name it their favourite takeaway in the area. Far more reviewers, though, describe a decline. The most repeated complaint is poor cooking: two report raw, hard noodles, and others cite a salt and pepper box that tasted greasy and not of salt and pepper, ribs that were all fat and bone, chicken wings with too much batter, dry soggy chips and poor fried rice. A Chicken Bamboo dish arrived with no chicken, a lamb pathia had heat but no flavour, and the banana fritters were mostly black. Orders also go wrong, with missing items, a wrong order turning up, and no chilli dip with the prawn toast. Others describe cold food after a long wait while phone calls, messages and emails went unanswered. Several say it has become expensive and underwhelming, and that the free prawn crackers and fortune cookies once added to big orders have stopped.

“I tried the pathia which is aways what I have in restaurants, sadly I was very disappointed yes it was hot but had no flavour, I used lamb which takes longer to cook than chicken whether the longer cooking time ruined it not sure but not much good if you can only cook chicken”

“An hour and a half on a Wednesday night and still waiting, blatant lies on the phone having called twice now.... have previously turned up with the wrong order, used to be great, complete circus now, shame.... AVOID”

“Great take away every time, hand down our favourite in the area. We’ve been coming for years and whilst we occasionally try others we can’t beat it!”

“Tried takeaway, literary the most vile experience I had with food in my life. Uncooked noodles, completely tasteless and smelly. The dessert was even worst, the banana fritters were 80% black 20% green.”

“Worst food I ever ordered in my life, the noodles where raw and hard, out of the packet no boiling hard, hidden under a layer of overcooked blob. I don't know how you they managed to do that but they did...waist of money!”
