About Harbour View House
Harbour View House sits on Fernlea Terrace in Saint Ives, combining a restaurant, bar, cafe and hotel rooms, with views over the town and harbour from both the rooms and the restaurant. The kitchen runs across breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a menu spanning around 20 dishes that includes English breakfast, eggs and avocado toast, scrambled eggs and croissant, alongside cappuccino. The bar side pours cocktails, including a margarita, with a happy hour running from 4 to 6pm. For guests staying on site, breakfast has been included in the room rate. Service is walk-in rather than by reservation, and the space works across the day, from morning coffee and breakfast plates through to evening cocktails, with the harbour and town views forming a constant backdrop to each part of the day.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is what reviewers praise most, with one calling the chef's cooked breakfast a revelation for its oyster mushrooms and a bit of halloumi served piping hot, and others describing the included breakfast and coffee as delicious. Close behind are the views over the town and harbour, which guests call unsurpassed and stunning. Cocktails during happy hour, a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, and a hot chocolate are also singled out, along with live jazz on a Saturday night and a monthly trivia quiz. Staff are repeatedly described as warm, welcoming and attentive, and the stay is called family run. The complaints are specific. One reviewer who stayed in a tiny room reports a squeaky bed frame, squeaky floorboards, filthy windows, a broken window latch, a broken bathroom blind, intermittent TV signal and a weak shower. A table of eleven with no menus reports waiting more than 90 minutes for food while every other table was served first, and says the staff were on their first night. One guest had their bags carried up to the room on return from a stroll around town.

“We had another amazing stay at Harbour View — our second time visiting the suite this year, and it has truly become our favourite place to stay. The views are absolutely stunning and make the whole experience feel really special. On Saturday night, we enjoyed fantastic live jazz music from Ru, which created such a great atmosphere. On Sunday, we had one of the best roast beef dinners we’ve had, with all the trimmings — absolutely delicious. What really makes Harbour View stand out is the warm welcome and attentive staff. Every visit feels personal, and nothing is ever too much trouble. We would highly recommend Harbour View to anyone looking for a relaxing stay with great food, beautiful views, and a wonderful atmosphere. We’ll definitely be returning again! 😎🫶💛”

“For the past five years, every time I visit St Ives, I make a point of dining at the restaurant at Harbour View House. I’m from São Paulo, Brazil, and this place has become a tradition for me. It’s amazing how the food keeps getting better every single year. This year I even took home a souvenir I bought a Harbour View House T-shirt! Everything here is exceptional: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and don’t even get me started on the cocktails. The views are breathtaking, and the atmosphere has a unique charm that makes every meal feel special. This time I brought some friends with me, and they were all amazednot only by the incredible food but also by the outstanding service. The staff are always smiling, friendly, and genuinely happy, which makes the whole experience even more memorable. I haven’t had the chance to stay at Harbour View House yet, but it’s definitely at the top of my list for my next visit.”

“Such a terrific stay! Wonderful family run business— warm staff made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door. Arrived just as their monthly trivia quiz was starting and were immediately swept into the fun. Super convenient to the train station with terrific breakfasts and coffee. We hope to be back soon!”
