  “Fantastic fish and chips! The food was fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection with crispy batter and fluffy chips. The portions were generous, and everything tasted great. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent service, making the whole experience even better. The shop was clean and the order was prepared quickly. I’d definitely recommend Holmbush Fish Bar to anyone looking for quality fish and chips. I’ll certainly be back!”

  “I ordered at 5.45 and was told it would be delivered between 6.20 - 6.45. I was still waiting at 7.45 when I telephoned to ascertain where my order was. The assistant was apologetic but if there is a shortage of drivers or they are too busy then the order should not have been taken. To add insult to injury after arriving late the chips were barely warm and the chicken looked overcooked and dry. It had obviously been kept warm. Very annoyed and totally disappointed.”

  “Visited early evening today and I am afraid to say the service was poor having waited 40 mins after giving my order, with three or four who arrived after me receiving their orders before me, with similar items. Then to be told they had run out of mushy Peas. The quality of the fish and chips was not up to their usual standard.”

  “To start things off. No idea why the staff turn up and park there cars all outside the front door stopping customers from being able to park. 2nd it’s not a great sight staff turning up with gag in hand and cloud of horrible smoke around them and they walk into work. Would have thought abit of common sense would prevail. As for the food. For what’s charged now you expect high end fish and chips but the have really gone down hill. Service no one smiles all grumpy teenagers! Bernard needs to get in there and sort the team out park the staff away from the front door!”

  “Just amazing service from the young man who took our order, so helpful and polite, even when we had to do the credit card machine twice! As for the food it was truly the best we have had in years!! Fish fresh and cooked well, Burger was tasty, well cooked, and chips were not greasy, but like you try to achieve at home crispy outside fluffy inside, we both enjoyed. We had given up trying to find takeaway, but will definitely be back even though it’s over an hours drive. Thank you to all.”

  “Unbelievable, I made the mistake of going here again the most expensive chip shop in all of St Austell. Their portions are 2/3 of any other chip shop and they have a policy to scrape the top of the Food container to ensure not one extra is given absolutely ridiculous at these costs. Do yourself a favour stay away”

  “All I can say it’s WOW. After a very long day in Plymouth on the way back to where we live in holmbush we wanted some quick dinner and rang it through to order it on time for when we would be there. When I rang to make the order the girl said “can’t you just come in there’s no one here at the moment” I said well I’m driving I’m not there now “I’m about 20 minutes away and I’d like to place the order” she replied, “well do you need anything cooked” like I have any understanding of their business and what needs to be cooked and what doesn’t, so I said “well I’d like a battered chicken breast?” She said “yeah what else?” At this point I should’ve just said not to bother with the attitude, but I’d had a two hour MRI scan and just felt rotten and needed food. So I gave the rest of the order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived 20 minutes later and the shop was busy and I was told it would be a while as the chicken had only just been put it. So we sat and waited and pondered whether to leave, but again we were very tired and hungry. My dinner was then inedible and I wouldn’t have given it to a dog. We live in holmbush literally a 20 second drive away, chips and gravy was cold. I ordered cheesy chips and the cheese wasn’t melted. And the chicken, well you can see for yourself in the photos I’ve attached, I don’t even have words. I couldn’t even cut it, I managed to pick some of the skin off and tried it and spat it straight back out it tasted absolutely vile. Safe to say I’m never returning back here.”

  “Treat the old folks to a slap up meal. Good old fish & chips. So we popped down, placed our order of large cod, medium cod 2xscampi and 3 regular chips. Order took 10 mins approximately. Staff were great, friendly and jovial. Fish not greasy and chip size for was on the money for us four. Would we go back? yes indeed. Last thing, we all got carried away and wanted our fish and chips so the photos were a last minute thought. However trust me they went down well🤣🤣”
