Quick info
About The Chip Inn
On Fleming Way in Rotherham, The Chip Inn is a fish and chips takeaway at number 88 that pairs a traditional chip shop menu with a kebab option. Cod is served with chips, and curry sauce, gravy and peas are available as sides. A pie meal with peas gives the menu a choice beyond fish. Mixed kebab meat, donner and chicken together, comes in a tray, so a single order can include both meats. A bread cake is also on the menu. The shop is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Fresh cod is the draw for the happier reviewers, who describe it as really white with crispy batter, and one notes the large fish is always cooked to order. Gravy and peas also earn praise, with one diner calling the peas a nuclear green with a fab taste, and portions are called generous and tasty. Staff are called great, and one reviewer found the man serving very pleasant for agreeing to a little of two sauces. Still, more reviewers describe a drop in standards. Complaints centre on refried, greasy fish and hard or burnt chips, with one saying the chips seemed to be scraps. A bread cake was described as days old and dry, a pie meal was called dried out, and a mixed kebab tray was said to hold hardly any meat. Two reviewers say their food was cold when they got it home just minutes away, one of them with the curry sauce and peas missing.

“Tried again today, really gone down in quality this place, since the owner opened his other shop down the road the quality here is poor. The chips are all scraps ( probably the off cuts from other shop ).The bread cake we had was clearly a few days old, dry as anything. It's time George sold this place & let someone else take it on & re vamp it.shame because the staff are great.”
