Customer Review Summary
King prawns come up most, from the salt and chilli king prawns one table named as its favourite to the jumbo king prawns served alongside Scottish lobster and Dover sole, which one diner praises for honest, classic cooking. Close behind are the Cantonese dishes: chicken with black bean sauce, salt and chilli bean curd, sizzling fillet, and dragon ribs, which one reviewer calls a total home run. Reviewers describe the food as fresh, hot, full of flavour and less greasy, with generous portions, and one party travelled all the way from Milton Keynes. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and a solo diner says a server chatted with them so dinner never felt lonely. One party of twelve celebrating a birthday could not fault the evening. The caveats are small: one reviewer feels a little rushed to order because the place is extremely busy, and another finds it a bit more expensive than the average Chinese. One table was offered extra pancakes for their duck when staff noticed some left over, and another notes mains arrive on warm plates.

“Outstanding Scottish lobster, jumbo king prawns, and pristine Dover sole—each prepared with the care and technique they deserve. What sets this place apart isn't just the calibre of ingredients (though they're impeccable), but the authentic approach to cooking them. No unnecessary fussing, no trendy shortcuts—just masterful execution of classic technique. In a city overflowing with restaurants chasing the next concept, finding a place that prioritises both provenance and honest cooking is genuinely rare. This is it.”

“Want to pass along my gratitude for the entire Blue Orchid last night during my dining experience yesterday. I came last night after watching Big John's posts for a few years. He not only bragged about the food but for the amount of hospitality that one would receive. I was here on a solo trip and had dinner by myself, but it never felt like it. Daniel made me feel at home and chatted with me for quite a bit and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would love to come back one day as I live in the United States, and will humbly brag about my experience to anyone who will ever visit London. Thank you once again”

“My friends and I visited on 29/7/26 for a belated birthday celebration and we had the most wonderful time. In my opinion, this is the best Chinese restaurant in all of London. The food quality is second to none - it’s all cooked fresh and is beyond delicious. Dragon ribs were a total home run! The staff are amazing too. We were lucky enough to be taken care of by a lovely female server (sorry I forgot your name) who kept us entertained and made sure our experience was to the highest standard. It’s hard to find restaurants of this quality in London - the Blue Orchid is a standout. I can’t wait to visit again! PS - they give you warm plates for your mains - a great touch. I can’t wait for my next visit. Top marks all round! See you soon Matt.”

“Service was very good, friendly, and the food was excellent. A bit more expensive than the average Chinese but you get what you pay for, less greasy and lots of flavour. If its good enough for Big John then you know it's quality. Boshhhh.”
