About La Mancha
La Mancha is a tapas restaurant at 5 The Butts Ave in Rochdale, serving classic and modern Spanish dishes alongside daily specials from across Spain. The menu uses Spanish dish names and includes queen scallops with chorizo and gambas pil pil, while sangria is on the drinks list. The room is colourful, with Spanish music playing in the background. Customer Review Summary
Queen scallops with chorizo lead the praise, described as perfectly seared and tender with a smoky, spicy kick, and one diner calls them underpriced. Close behind are the pork ribs in barbecue sauce, the steak with chimichurri, and the alioli, which one reviewer would happily have taken home by the pot, served with patatas bravas and rustic bread. Sangria also gets a nod. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and reviewers describe an authentic, relaxed feel, with one noting the team stayed cheerful through a sold-out night. Criticism is mild and specific: the meatballs in tomato sauce could be more flavourful, the garlic and chilli prawn sauce could be thicker, one dish had slightly dry chicken, and one reviewer found the restaurant tricky to find on a narrow side street. Two reviewers single out that instead of a standard service charge, diners are asked whether they would like to donate to a local charity.

“Great little place and just fitted us in on a very busy night. Food was good, although chicken a little dry on one of the dishes. Staff were running round like a load of bees and was very impressed with the pace they kept going at :-)”

“We had our first visit to La Mancha Tapas in Rochdale this evening, and it certainly won't be our last. The menu has a fantastic selection, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were all friendly, attentive, and a real credit to the business. Whoever the owner is has clearly done a fantastic job creating a team that takes pride in looking after customers. My wife and I love tapas and have eaten in many places over the years, including some that are far more "up themselves." La Mancha Tapas was refreshingly authentic, with outstanding food, great service, and none of the pretence. One thing that really stood out was the way they handle their service charge. Rather than adding a typical gratuity, they simply ask if you'd like to donate £1 per person to a local charity. It's completely at your discretion, and it's one of the best ideas I've come across. For the quality of food and service you receive, it almost feels too little. A real Spanish gem in a lovely setting. Thanks for a fantastic evening—we're already looking forward to our next visit!”

“We took our kids here as they loved tapas when on holiday in Spain. Both kids (15 and 11) loved the food. We have visited lan Mancha before but not with the kids and it has always been great. My sister in-law and husband came with us and they also loved it.. the service was excellent and the food was lovely. My only regret is the kids will be asking to go all the time now 🤣.”

“My first time here and what a great find in the centre of Rochdale. Nice authentic feel to the place. The staff were warm and friendly. The service was excellent ... but the best part was the food. We had the tapas which was well cooked and full of flavour. We usually go to Manchester for tapas, but this was better than anything I've ever had there. Will definately be going back.”
