About Healey Dell Heritage Centre & Tea Rooms
Healey Dell Heritage Centre & Tea Rooms is a restaurant in Rochdale on Dell Rd, set in a Victorian building within the Healey Dell nature reserve. Antique plates and chandeliers decorate the walls and ceiling, and tables fill both the downstairs and upstairs rooms. The menu includes doorstop cheese on toast, and the tea is made with proper tea leaves, Earl Grey among them. Afternoon tea comes with fruit scones and has to be ordered 24 hours ahead. The tea rooms are open Thursday to Sunday. From the reserve, a trail leads to a waterfall, and free walking maps are available for anyone heading out on foot. A small art shop inside sells keyrings and postcards of local artwork.

Customer Review Summary
Afternoon tea is what most reviewers come for, and the fruit scones and heart-themed Valentine's items draw praise, along with a stunning Victorian interior, antique plates and chandeliers. Close behind are the doorstop cheese on toast, a good Earl Grey brewed from proper tea leaves, a cheese pie and soup with a sandwich, plus a handy pit stop after walking the nature reserve trails and waterfall. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and dogs are welcome. The afternoon tea draws the sharpest complaints. One reviewer found the sandwiches incredibly dry, with bread that almost tasted stale, and called the Oreo cheesecake uneatable. Another felt it was poor value with too few sandwiches for two, and noted a burnt fat smell and jazz they found jarring. A walker also found the chocolate fudge cake dry and the cappuccino disappointing. One reviewer mentions that a granddaughter was given a small chocolate egg and a sweet treat after finishing her dinner.

“had a walk round the nature reserve and came here for food afterwards. Every meal was first rate, my cheese pie was delicious. The childrens food was, to use their words,"bangin!". The other halfhad soup if tge day and sandwich whoch was enoughto satisfy the biggest of appetites. We have all agreed we definitely cant wait to go back for more.”

I highly recommend the tea rooms for a visit and then to go on the lovely walk to the waterfall and idyllic surroundings. The owners of the tea rooms and staff are truly wonderful people and really look after you. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They go the extra mile. Go there and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.”

“Visited here for afternoon tea with my friend and son. The atmosphere is really nice, and it’s quite quirky and interesting. Staff are super friendly and were welcoming. The afternoon tea its self I wasn’t very impressed with. The sandwiches were incredibly dry - the bread almost tasted stale. The Oreo cheesecake was un-eatable, not sure what they had done with that. The rest of it was nice and I liked that the tea was proper tea leaves.”
