  “I have tried a lot of Chinese restaurants around the area. I find that this is the best one. The chicken is always cooked perfect the owners treat you with respect and kindness. Always happy to see you. The quality of the food is well worth the money. Don’t take my word for it come and try it yourself.”

  “first time had food from here....never again!! pancake rolls soggy and ringing in grease, even the bag they were in had grease swimming around at the bottom!! chicken balls are not proper chicken balls...they are large lumps of chicken coated in batter. spare ribs were over cooked and looked disgusting!! AVOID!!”

  “I do really like this takeaway, whenever I’m in Essex I make sure to order from only here. Blows all the other Chineses out the water. Honestly the quality of Chinese takeaways is serious declining in general. This is the one place where I feel like the quality is always 100%. And they don’t skimp on the quantity either?! Woah! It’s always worth the wait. Just make sure you know what you’re gonna order and do it at least an hour in advance during the weekend rush.”

  “Just not very good. Broccoli overcooked. Nephew asked for noodles with no vegetables - guess what, full of onion and he’s spent the last 20 mos picking it out of his dish, bag of chips - we’re probably cooked yesterday and reheated. Really bad.. sorry folks”

  “Our dirst time ordering from here, and it definitely won't be our last! We only did so as it was a Monday night, and all the local ones were closed for their day off and the nearer ones that were open had a few too many reviews that didn't exactly inspire confidence. I'm so glad we tried Hong Kong Chef, the lady on the front desk was so lovely, and the place itself is very clean and when you stepped inside there was such good smells of food cooking rather than that greasy oil smell. We had quite a big order but it was prepared fresh, and the stand out dishes for me were both the chicken and beef chow mein as they weren't greasy or oily, and they had that "wok hei" taste that good Chinese food is supposed to have, it's that distinctive flavour that comes from cooking in a wok at high heat. Something you could never achieve at home! The other big stand outs were the satay skewers - really big juicy pieces of chicken I a really yummy sauce, and the crispy chilli beef which was not only super crispy but wasn't overly sweet but have a deep flavour. That was definitely the favourite of the night. The chicken with cashews was also a hit and they didn't scrimp on the cashews. The price was good, the portions great, everything tasted amazing and the service from the lady who served us was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!”

  “This was my first order with Hong Kong Chef, the staff are welcoming and friendly. The food arrived quickly. Got home and wow, set meal for one was lovely and good value for the price. Vegetables spring rolls where will done and not greasy. My favorite of all was the chicken skewerd with sartey sauce. Lived in the area for nearly 20 years and so happy to discovery this little gem. Please support your local take aways and forget about Mc Donald's, KFC and all the other franchises”
