Quick info
About Lin Lam
On Golden Cross Parade in Rochford, Lin Lam serves Chinese food for collection and delivery rather than sit-down dining. It opens Wednesday to Sunday, evenings only, and stays closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is no booking system in place, so orders are taken on a walk-in basis, with customers calling in or stopping by the counter to order. Delivery is also available, making it a practical option for those who would rather eat at home than travel out for a meal. The takeaway format keeps the operation focused on food to go, with the evening-only schedule shaping when locals can plan a visit or place an order for that night's dinner.

Customer Review Summary
Regulars most often praise delicious food that is prepared quickly and arrives hot, with several saying they have never had a bad meal and one describing decades of orders from here. The chop suey draws the most specific praise, with fresh, crunchy vegetables and good rice noodles that a group of six found more homemade than other Chinese meals. Salt and chilli chicken earns a nod even from a critical reviewer, and a few mention friendly staff and good prices. Roughly a third of reviewers were unhappy, and their complaints are concrete. Chips arrived cold, prawn balls were doughy inside, and the pancake rolls came in a bag pooled with oil. Others found the crispy beef soggy, the chow mein plain, the ribs flavourless, and the sweet and sour tofu and Kung po saturated in oil. One reviewer who waited a long time received wedges instead of the chilli chips ordered, and another described a reheated curry with large lumps of chicken.

“Fancied a little nibble this evening cost me £18.80 and it was the most vile chinese I have ever tried to eat. 1 chips, 2 pancake rolls half portion chicken balls, half portion prawn balls and an egg fried rice. You would not think you could go wrong with those few bits. Chips were cold, prawn balls were undercooked and completely dough inside and prawns undercooked and cold, the bag that had the pancake rolls had at least a quarter of a cup of oil in the bottom of the bag and the rice was crispy and lukewarm. This was one of the few times I could not eat my food and was so disappointed that I will never buy from them again.”
