About Timbo House
Timbo House is a family-owned Chinese takeaway in Rochford, at 31 West St, run by the same owners for a few years. The menu follows the standard English Chinese takeaway range, with char siu and chicken balls, including sweet and sour mixed balls. Thai curries run alongside it, including beef red Thai curry, so one menu covers both Chinese and Thai dishes. Orders can be customised or prepared around food intolerances on request. The kitchen opens in the evenings only and closes on Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Thai curries draw the most praise at Timbo House, especially a beef red Thai curry whose sauce one reviewer would drink through a straw, while another calls the curries fragrant with a kick. Close behind are generous portions, the beef with chilli and blackbean, the char siu, and the sweet and sour mixed balls, with chicken balls suggested for mopping up curry sauce. Reviewers describe the food as delicious, fresh and hot on arrival, and one says the family-owned kitchen has improved since the current owners took over. Another with food intolerances says their order was prepared to their specifics. The complaints are specific. Two reviewers say recent visits disappointed, with crispy chilli beef tasting of oil and salt and pepper chips arriving in a bag with little salt. One reviewer got no indication of timing on a busy evening, and another who phoned about a wrong order was told it should have been requested differently. Regulars say being known by first name can bring free prawn crackers and a fortune cookie.

“The last 2 times I have had food from here it’s not been great . It used to be the best . Crispy chilli beef I could taste the oil in it . Ordered salt and pepper chips they come in a bag with just a bit of salt on them and a few chilis really disappointed don’t think I will be using this place again.”

“Family owned with both mum & dad working the kitchen at busier times. Service has improved with the grumpy miserable chap who took orders having left. Gets very busy on Friday & Saturday Standard so allow plenty of time when you order, but usually a fast and efficient service. Standard English Chinese takeaway with typical menu, but all of these types of places cook to a formula. There are some gems in there. Don't be put off, though. This is an above average Chinese takeaway. The quality is consistently good, and portion sizes are generous. We enjoy the beef with chilli & blackbean. The char siu or bbq pork is particularly good one of the best I've had, & can recommend the sweet & sour mixed balls. The Thai curries are also good, fragrant with a kick! £15.00 minimum order value on cash orders. Delivery available. You would be pushed to find better in the district, recommended!”
