About Salvatore's Penwortham
On the main road in Penwortham, Salvatore's Penwortham is an independent Italian restaurant at 63 Liverpool Rd. in Preston, run by the same family for over 30 years. Photographs of the founder hang on the wall, so the restaurant's family history is on view to anyone who sits down to eat. The kitchen makes stone-baked pizza with a wood-fired taste. The pasta dishes include salmon pennette (orecchiette al salmone) and lobster agnolotti. Main courses come in large portions, and guests are seated in booths.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food itself, with the pasta and sauces singled out: spaghetti described as perfectly cooked, mussels and meatballs in a well-liked sauce, and a tomato and mozzarella salad called out of this world. Close behind are a monkfish special and goats cheese starter, a salmon pennette main, and stone baked pizza with a noticeable wood flavour. Portions are repeatedly called big or generous, and several mention being seated quickly in a comfy booth, with staff described as warm, friendly and efficient even when the restaurant was full. One regular says the family's refresh after the founder's passing has kept the place's character. The caveats are modest but specific. One diner found the orecchiette with smoked salmon tasted uncooked and disliked the shredded pieces, another thought the fried calamari too chewy, and a third found the staff inexperienced and slightly disorganised on a Sunday afternoon. A few say it was busy, and one reviewer suggested a board for the night's specials, since the monkfish was only offered when asked.

“Lovely place, warm welcome. Sat in a booth which was really comfy and intimate for our meal. Food was delicious, would recommend the salmon pennette main 😋”

“Delicious food, excellent service and very generous portions. The best Italian in and around Preston.”

“Situated on the main road in Penwortham, a busy place on a Thursday evening. The food was okay, but I've had better. I ordered the Orecchiette al Salmone £14 which says it was smoked salmon but in all honesty it tasted like normal uncooked. I'm not a lover of the salmon being broken up into shredded pieces, preferring more bite size larger chunks. My friends had the Agnolotti Lobster £15.50 all said they enjoyed it. We also had a half cheese and half tomato garlic bread for a shared starter.”

“A nice little restaurant, good job we booked as it was very busy. We got seated straight away in a little booth. Starters were tasty, main courses arrived and everyone was happy with there choices. Good portion sizes and value for money. We will visit again next time we are visiting near by.”

“My first time in the restaurant, and I have to say I'm quite impressed. We were served very quickly upon arrival, and we got a 3 course meal (one of them from the Christmas menu). The food came very quickly and it tasted amazing. We were very impressed by the service, even with the restaurant full and busy, the staff was extremely efficient and very friendly. I definitely will get back!”
