Customer Review Summary
The Honey Chilli Chicken and Prawn Noodles come up most, mostly as a complaint. Reviewers call them too sweet with too much sauce, one says honey overwhelmed both dishes, and another found oil pooled at the bottom of the bowl, though that diner still thought the prawn version was nice. Elsewhere the food draws more praise. Diners name a juicy burger, the veg, duck pancakes, bread and nibbles and a caesar salad, and several call the food excellent or cooked to perfection. Close behind is service, which splits sharply. Some describe friendly, attentive staff, while others describe a rushed meal with plates lifted as soon as forks went down. One reviewer reports staff turning cold after hearing them speak Polish. A dry sea bass, hard garlic cubes, cold coffee, a very warm dining room and a greasy smell from the open kitchen also appear. One diner in a hurry had the waitress pass that on to the kitchen and was served promptly.

“While on holiday up in Portrush we decided to treat ourselves with a lovely dinner out. We chose the Urban and we were not disappointed! From the start the whole experience was amazing starting with the friendly staff to say they couldn't do more for you is an understatement. The food .... Oh the food! Cooked to perfection! All 4 of us left full and feeling very content. Next stay we will definitely be coming back.”

“The food in Urban was excellent, which is especially nice since it was really busy being on a bank holiday weekend. Our only criticism would be it felt very warm inside and we felt we would have enjoyed our food better and stayed longer if only it was a tad cooler. We will return again for a second visit.”

“Unfortunately, our experience at Urban was very disappointing. The staff were noticeably cold and unfriendly towards us. We got the impression that their attitude changed after they heard us speaking Polish. What was particularly noticeable was that at the other tables, where customers were speaking English, the staff were much more polite, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere at our table was completely different. Everyone should be treated with the same level of respect, regardless of what language they speak. It’s a shame, because this kind of behaviour really affects the overall experience of the restaurant. We hope this was just an isolated incident and not the usual standard of service.”

“The food was absolutely amazing and definitely the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the overall experience was let down by the service. The staff’s body language came across as quite arrogant and far from polite or welcoming. The coffee was also served cold, which was disappointing. With such good food, it’s a shame that the service and attention to detail didn’t match the quality of the meal. Hopefully, this feedback is taken constructively, as the restaurant has great potential with some improvements to customer service and the quality of the coffee.”

“As a chef, I was genuinely disappointed with my experience here. The food was so bad that I couldn't even finish it, and what surprised me even more was that none of the staff bothered to ask why customers were leaving their meals untouched. We ordered the Honey Chilli Chicken Noodles and Prawn Noodles for the main course. Both dishes were completely ruined by an overwhelming amount of honey. It felt less like eating noodles and more like drinking honey straight from a bottle. The balance of flavors was non-existent, and the dishes were simply inedible. Honestly, this dish belongs on the dessert menu, not as a main course. For a restaurant to serve something this poorly balanced is extremely disappointing. Definitely not a place I would return to or recommend.”
