Customer Review Summary
Scallops draw the most repeated praise here, described as buttery, fresh, and cooked to perfection across several visits, often paired with lamb mains that reviewers call generous and lovely. Close behind, the sticky toffee pudding earns particular enthusiasm, with more than one diner calling it among the best they've had, and the early bird two course special (lamb with vegetables and pudding for around £19.50) gets singled out as good value. Other named dishes include tempura prawns, crab croquettes, mussels in sauce, chicken supreme, and crème brûlée, alongside cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. Service is repeatedly called friendly and efficient, and the log fire and window seating come up as touches reviewers enjoyed. Complaints are minor but specific: one reviewer's cauli cheese and cabbage side never arrived and drew only a half hearted apology, another found the treacle tart dry and hard, and a third wanted a sharper knife for meats. Several note prices run a little high but call it worth the cost, and one mentions parking in the square can be difficult, suggesting a taxi as an alternative.

“Have visited twice now Sunday lunch. Had heard from friends how nice it was here. We have not been disappointed, great menu choices, delicious and plentiful, presentation and service top notch. Great value and lovely atmosphere. The only slight criticism would be a sharper knife for the meats.”

“We had a really wonderful meal here last night. Everything was so well cooked and so beautifully presented. One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Thank you to the chef snd staff!”

“We visited for Sunday lunch, the food was delicious, we both had roast beef and it was melt in the mouth, beautifully presented. Marking food and service down by one star because they forgot to bring out our cauli cheese and cabbage side. We didn't realise until after we'd finished eating our main when people at the next table received mains plus sides. When we queried it with the waitress, we had a half hearted apology. Luckily the puddings saved the day, because it was the best sticky toffee pudding I'd ever had!”

“When I say we had the best meal we’ve ever eaten tonight, I’m not exaggerating! The special Chateaubriand was absolutely incredible! We always come here when we’re in the area and we’re never disappointed but tonight was out of this world!”

“Absolutely first class food and very friendly service. I was very fortunate that they had the T-bone available that night, it was amazing…best steak meal I’ve ever had. Tasty side portion of flat field mushroom, …”
