Customer Review Summary

Fish and seafood draw the most praise, especially the turbot, whether in a fish pie with prawns and Muscadet cream or served on its own, and a seafood pasta of crab, lobster and scallop on crab bisque linguine. Close behind are the scallops in garlic butter, a crab and scallop tartlet, the prawn cocktail and crêpes Suzette. Cocktails and the wine list also earn mentions, and many describe the owners and staff as warm and welcoming. Complaints centre on inconsistency. One diner received a fillet steak medium well instead of medium rare, another found the flambéed sea bass overpowered by alcohol and the fries soggy, and a table of six was brought two portions of fries when three were ordered. One couple finished their drinks outside after a loud group went unchecked by staff, and one reviewer found the lobster slightly overcooked. Even so, several praise generous portions and the crème brûlée.

“Came to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Sat and ate in the cocktail bar which worked perfectly. The service was first class - and the cocktails are the best we’ve had in Poole. Food was very good, simple and homely French seafood. The lobster was expensive and perhaps slightly overcooked but it didn’t detract from a lovely evening - thank you”

“We passed here so many times but this time we came in and we’re so glad we did. Every course was delicious, infused with so many flavours, I think this is one of the best restaurants I’ve come to in the local area for a long time. We’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to try more of the menu.”

“There are some great places to eat on Poole Quay, yet for the very best finest French cuisine you have to visit St TrOpez. We were greeted by Seberine, such a wonderful lady, and were seated, where Sebastian, equally wonderful and so welcoming, took time to come and chat with chat with us,and Lisa bringing 2 glasses of delicious champagne to start our lunch. After some serious deliberation and close scrutiny, we decided on the Table D'hote menu. The very lovely and friendly Holly took our order, We chose the crispy poole crab and scallop tartlet, and the Signature St TrOpez prawn cocktail to start and both were incredibly delicious 😋 For mains we both chose the Slightly Spicy Seafood Pasta…. Again incredibly delicious juicy pieces of crab, lobster and scallop sitting on a crab bisque infused linguine pasta Prada bought our food and ensure we were happy with everything 👍🥰 Sebastien served us a beautiful Cotes Du Rhone recommended by Seberine. Our lunch at St TrOpez was just perfect 😋❤️ Thank you to everyone involved both FOH and BOH for such a wonderful lunch Hugs Andy and Miles 🐻🥰”

“I would pretence this in the fact we have been big Saint tropez fans for a while - we have been coming here for years and hosted my dad’s 60th birthday party here. We haven’t been for a while however this time I was quite disappointed and there was a stark difference to before. The main issue for me was the mains each come with 1 side, and we were a table or 6. 3 people ordered fries, but the waitress only brought 2 fries because she said ‘she didn’t think we would eat them all’. When you are paying >£40 a main, to remove a side that we have ordered and is included is not acceptable. It’s also outrageous to remove items we have ordered as the staff didn’t think we would eat it. The fillet steak was ordered medium rare and came medium well done, and didn’t seem like a cut of fillet steak. It felt much more like a rump, and the peppercorn sauce was not nice at all. We had to get up to go to the wine bucket as it was situated away from the table to pour our wine as no one was present. The turbot was amazing and the wine was great. Creme brûlée is always lovely there and the atmosphere is lovely. However I feel the quality has unfortunately slipped over the last year that means it’s lost its spark and what made it really special before.”

“As regular visitors to Poole, my husband and I had been waiting for a celebratory occasion to visit St TrOpez Lounge, as we'd heard positive feedback. We booked for the second sitting on a Friday evening. The restaurant was very busy, with a pleasant hubbub. Service was attentive, and the entrees and starters arrived and were tasty. It soon became apparent that a group of around ten people on the upper tier were particularly loud, and as diners left, all we could hear was this particular group. There was no noticeable intervention by staff, and it felt like being we were in a noisy pub full of football supporters just before closing time. This completely spoilt our experience. I mentioned it to the waiter when I paid the bill and he a cursory "sorry, too much to drink, I think". We went outside to finish our drinks! I would have thought, given that this is an expensive restaurant, that front of house staff should have at least tried to manage their behaviour, which was loud, obnoxious, crass and completely disrespectful of those around them. In fact, there seemed to be nobody in charge at all. This is really not acceptable at this price point. Perhaps, this is the world that we are living in now? If so, that's very sad, and personally puts me off eating out anywhere.”
