About South Deep
South Deep is a waterside restaurant on Turks Ln in Poole, with seating that looks over the water and the boats. It is open daily, and an outside bar sits alongside the dining room. The seasonal menu changes, with seafood that includes lobster bisque and crab linguine, and breakfast pancakes served with berries and syrup. A live guitarist plays on Sunday afternoons. In the off season, a wood burner is lit in the cafe.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the setting and the food, with the harbour and boat views and a seasonal menu that changes each visit drawing the praise. Diners name roast lamb, roast chicken, the South Deep Mess and an espresso martini chocolate mousse at Easter, while others single out lobster bisque, pork belly, crab linguine and mussels. Breakfast pancakes with berries or bacon and syrup also earn praise, alongside a lit wood burner. Service is described as friendly and attentive, including looking after two diners with allergies and bringing out a birthday cake a group had brought along. The complaints are about service and value. One reviewer found a booked table not ready, drinks and food arriving very slowly, and different tables given different menus, calling the prices high for the experience. Another reports three disappointing visits in a week, with no menus ready, no pastries and a flippant attitude. A guitarist playing on a late Sunday afternoon suited one diner's chilled meal.

“We had a fantastic evening here and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was delicious, and the service was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and they even went the extra mile by bringing out a birthday cake that we had brought along for our friend, which was such a lovely touch. We had an excellent evening and would highly recommend this restaurant for a great night out. We’ll definitely be coming back”

“We had a lovely meal here today. Great service and a lovely setting. There was a guitarist (late Sunday afternoon) who pitched the songs and sound just right for the perfect chilled afternoon.”

“Third time here in a week and it’s been bad every time. Great location and a nice-looking setup, but the experience falls apart once you sit down. The food was genuinely disappointing, and the service was even worse. It felt like no one had any understanding of what good hospitality actually means—attentive, warm, and proactive. A restaurant can have a beautiful space, but without great food and genuine hospitality, it misses the mark completely. No menus ready, no pastries, bad details all around , unwelcome and flippant attitude.”
