About Tooth and Tiger
Tooth and Tiger is a bar in Pontefract at 29 Southgate, spread over three floors with a games room on site and dogs welcome. The kitchen serves breakfast and lunch, and Sunday lunch comes as sharing platters, including a Yorkshire Basket of minted lamb shank, chicken, beef, pulled gammon and bangers and mash. Smothered fries arrive topped with stuffing balls, pigs in blankets, gravy and a choice of pulled chicken, beef or pork. Bottomless brunch comes with a tapas menu and a choice of wines. On nights out, DJ sets and dancing take over. The second floor and a function room can be hired for birthday parties and other events, which gives groups space of their own.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is what reviewers return to most, especially the Yorkshire Basket sharing platter with minted lamb shank, pulled gammon and bangers and mash, plus smothered fries topped with pulled meat, stuffing balls and gravy. Diners describe fast service, good prices and a dog-friendly room, and one notes that the venue gets very busy and suggests booking. Close behind are bottomless brunch, where reviewers praise the choice of wines and a tapas menu that reminded one guest of Mallorca, and the games and DJ nights that draw groups. The upstairs function rooms hosted 30th, 60th and other birthday parties that guests call easy to arrange. The complaints are serious but come from two reviewers. One waited well over 50 minutes on a lunch break for an egg salad and a steak sandwich, was told the water wasn't hot enough to boil the egg, then received a salad containing peppers despite a stated allergy, and was still expected to pay in full. Another found a per-person afternoon tea with stale sandwiches, shop-bought desserts and a single cup of tea with no refills.

“Great place to eat Sunday lunch. Have been here twice recently on Sunday and never disappointed. Fast service, pleasant atmosphere in well decorated surroundings, dog friendly, good food and great prices. Recently we had Smothered fries which came as a bowl of skin on fries, stuffing balls, pigs in blankets, and covered with your choice of pulled meat (chicken, beef, or pork), and finished off with gravy. All this, a couple of sausages for our dog, and a drink each for under £30 - great value. See you next time.”

“Visited Tooth and Tiger recently and had a really good experience. The venue has a great atmosphere and is a brilliant place to go with friends. There’s plenty to do with the games, and the whole place has a really fun vibe. The drinks were great and the staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the night even better. It’s nice having somewhere in Pontefract where you can relax, have a few drinks and enjoy some games all in one place. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a good night out!”

“So many options of sharing platters to choose from here & all such great quality / value for money! 😍 We went for the ‘Yorkshire Basket’ which has a little bit of everything & includes some mash. From the minted lamb shank, chicken, beef, pulled gammon & bangers and mash - everything was everything and more you want from a Sunday dinner. Pigs in blankets come complimentary but we ordered cheesy cauliflower as an extra. Red cabbage as part of the veg too. 👌🏽 Dogs are also allowed! 🐶 Make sure to book as they get super busy. 📞 Tummy very full & content. 🫶🏽 Staff & venue 10/10!”
