Customer Review Summary

The carvery draws the most praise, described as excellent, with very generous portions and a good selection of meats, and one group who mostly chose it found it not bad at all. Close behind is the huge choice on the menu, where diners name a 12oz steak cooked to perfection, fish and chips, meatballs, duck breast and chicken in a mushroom and brandy sauce, and a pescatarian reviewer found plenty to eat. Chips earn repeated mention, and reviewers also like the friendly staff, the music and the family run feel, along with a play area for children. Two reviews are sharply critical. One Sunday roast diner reported thin meat, old tasting Yorkshire puddings, lumpy mash and frozen roast potatoes. Another found a mustard and brandy sauce like pouring cream, a burger bun soaked in grease, a long hair in the food and greasy onion rings, and says the waitress never came back after the problems were raised. Another reviewer notes that staff offered to wrap up leftovers to take home.

“Sunday roast meat was very thin yorkshire puddings tasted old mash was lumpy roast potatoes was frozen brought ones. Why can't you get a decent Sunday lunch any where now a days. I wanted my money back but my wife wouldn't let me go and kick off over the food. I will NOT BE GOING BACK. But feel they need to rectify this situation that I have complained about.”

This place has something for everyone. It has so many choices that cater for everyone on any eating plan. The food was excellent! The service was second to none. “We visited this pub because of the reviews and we wasn't disappointed. I booked the table because of the reviews and pleased I did. It was a warm bank holiday and busy. Needless to say all the customers there proved we'd chosen the correct place to meet friends. This pub was in the middle of two friends that each travel over 1 hour to meet up. Previously we'd met at a pub in the junction 32 and had been really let down. It's refreshing to find a family run pub with brilliant food. Thank you”
