About Honey's Coffee
On Wolseley Rd in Plymouth, Honey's Coffee is a cafe that opens daily and takes walk-ins rather than bookings. The menu runs from a full English breakfast to sandwiches like the brie and bacon panini, alongside ham egg and chips and a bacon cheeseburger. Sunday roasts are served with cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes, with vegan and vegetarian versions available, and roasts can also be collected as takeaway. Cream tea and a selection of locally made cakes round out the offering. Dogs are welcome inside, making it a stop for those out with a pet. Meal vouchers can be bought as gifts. On Christmas Day, the cafe opens to offer free or pay-as-you-wish meals and drinks to anyone in the community who would otherwise be spending the day alone.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast draws the most praise, with reviewers describing stacked lamb, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and homemade gravy, plus a vegetarian version that a vegan and a vegetarian diner both enjoyed. Close behind are the full English and fried breakfast, ham, egg and chips, a brie and bacon panini, a caramel latte and the cream tea, with portions repeatedly called generous. Many describe friendly staff who treat customers like family, and several mention the owner giving free coffee on Christmas Day and a treat and water to a pair of dogs. Two reviewers were far less happy. One says a bacon cheeseburger came back with the same bitten burger in a fresh bun, with sauces never mentioned, and staff discussed it within earshot. The other reports feeling rushed, hearing staff comment on customers sitting in a corner, and seeing sausages placed on a sandwich by hand. A couple of regulars suspect recent bad reviews were fake. Reviewers also mention roasts that can be collected and a birthday lunch voucher that was easy to arrange.

“Honeys Cafe is the most delightful place for a coffee or bite to eat. Me and my partner have been a regular here for a while and the service and reception is always top notch as is the food. All customers are treated like family which is incredibly welcoming. Recently my partner bought a voucher for my son to be able to take me for lunch for my birthday. The transaction was easy and my little boy felt like he was taking his dad out which put the biggest smile on his face.”

“absolute joke. ordered a bacon cheeseburger, no information about ingredients on the menu, so i asked the server. she said salad and coleslaw, i asked what salad, and was giving no response. i said okay just lettuce nothing else. received my burger, had a bite and saw two different sauces that i was not informed about, took it back and asked without sauce. received a ‘new burger’ which was just my original - with my bite mark and sauce still included - just in a new bun. didn't want to take it up again and the male ‘chef’ and server were talking about the situation loud enough for my table to hear. very passive aggressive and quite frankly rude. highly recommend anywhere else, i’d probably get better service licking the floor in kfc. absolute joke”

“Breakfast is lovely, well cooked and reasonably priced, the staff are welcoming and polite, it’s a great atmosphere and feel comfortable. Accommodated to preferences, second time coming here in a row.”

“The service in this cafe was awful. We were not made to feel welcome and felt like we had to rush and leave as soon as we were finished. We heard the staff talking about us and saying that we “looked like we were doing nothing in the corner” whilst also glaring over at us. The food was moderate and overpriced with the chef used his hands to place the sausages onto the sandwich (very unhygienic) Do not recommend.”

“A lovely little warm cafe in St Budeaux square. Lots of locals support this friendly place, but it is helped along by fresh, hot cooked delicious food and the owner, who's funny banter keeps the conversation and atmosphere light. I don't live here, but it's worth the trip.”
