About The Miners Arms

The Miners Arms is a stone-built country pub on Hemerdon Ln in Plymouth, with a large garden and a playground for families. Food comes from the bar rather than a restaurant, and the snacks include hot Rowe's pasties, sausage rolls and a hot scotch egg. A real log fire burns inside, and a landlord works behind the bar. Dogs are welcome alongside children, and the pub has plenty of car parking for anyone driving out.

Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast draws the strongest praise, with diners describing a massive portion, generous vegetables and beef called gorgeous, and one reviewer expecting it to sell out every week and urging early booking. Close behind are the friendly landlord and staff, along with the quirky interior, real log fire and large beer garden, which reviewers call good for kids and dogs. Reviewers who found only bar snacks single out the hot scotch egg, the salt and pepper calamari, and hot pasties and sausage rolls. That limited food is the main complaint. One reviewer who expected a pub with food found no proper meals, only fast snacks, and waited a while for drinks at the bar. Another describes dirty garden tables, litter, unleashed dogs leaving mess and broken glass beside the bins. Even so, one group went for a pint and stayed a few hours, ordering snacks from the kitchen.

“Such a lush pub! 🍻 The staff are absolutely awesome, the drinks are fairly priced and the atmosphere is just spot on. It’s really family friendly too, so you can enjoy a drink with the kids and still have a great time. The beer garden is massive and the inside is so quirky and different, with loads of character! Just a really nice place to have a drink, chill out and have a good time. ❤️”

“We went with friends for an early evening 5.30pm drink with there two dogs. We sat in the garden. First thing we noticed was all the table were dirty, litter was on the floor and other people dogs were running around pooing on glass. The staff were in and out and didn't ask them to put the dogs on leads. As we were leaving walking towards the carpark a customer made up aware of the broken glass next to the bins. I been in this pub as a teenager and when the restaurant was there and on dates over the years.”

“We went to celebrate Father's Day today at the Miners Arms for a roast dinner. The pub has such a lovely vibe and atmosphere. The roast was absolutely stunning. The portion sizes were very generous, and the selection of vegetables offered was amazing value for money. I couldn't even finish my plate! A huge thank you to Kelly for such a delicious roast, Harry for the fantastic presentation, our lovely waitress for her excellent service. We will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to all our friends and family. Get booking early everyone as I can see this being a sell out roast every week.”

“Apparently new owners this year, there were only bar snacks on offer but we had the much promoted hot scotch egg, crispy and soft in the middle, and the salt and pepper calamari, lovely and tender. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Food freshly cooked and delicious”
