About The Packet Inn
The Packet Inn is a British restaurant on Packet Lane in Penzance, set in an old coaching inn in South West Cornwall. It is the second pub from the team behind The Tolcarne Inn, a historic maritime pub in Newlyn, so guests who know one venue will find the same operators running the other. The kitchen cooks British food, and the inn also works as a pub. Dogs are welcome, so visitors can bring their own dog along when they stop in.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food, with the pie, the Sunday roast beef brisket and the moules mariniers named as standouts. Close behind come the steak, the seafood linguini, the burger, the fried chicken, the beef strips and the salt and pepper squid, plus sandwiches with fries that one diner called great value. The lemon posset and raspberry sorbet got praise too. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive, and one pub stayed busy yet service held up. Diners also mention the conservatory, several different rooms, a sunny outdoor area, games for kids and a decent kids menu. The main complaint comes from one local couple who found their anniversary meal disappointing. They were handed two different menus, and the lemon sole arrived with a sprinkle of garnish and a bowl of overcooked chips. One other reviewer asked for a change to the dessert menu. A late-night party was glad the kitchen stayed open after taking their booking by phone.

“I am sorry to report, being local and longing to try the food experience of this pud. We were sadly disappointed. After being issued with two different menus. My flat steak, mushroom, tomato, onion rings and peas, all very nice. My wife chose the lemon sole, which came with a sprinkle of garnish and a bowl of over cooked chips. Fine dining for our wedding anniversary! I don't think we could recommend this!”
