About The Rock & Fountain Inn
On LLanvaches Lane in Penhow, The Rock & Fountain Inn is a restaurant where reservations are required. The menu includes gammon served with pineapple and egg, Welsh faggots, and a sriracha chicken starter. A roast lunch is also served, and a table can involve a wait when the room is busy. Dogs are permitted inside the dining area, so diners can keep them at the table. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own for a shared meal, and a live singer performs as part of the evening entertainment.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is the main draw, with diners praising the roast dinner and the thick gammon served with pineapple and egg. Close behind are a Sriracha chicken starter and Welsh faggots, both described as tasty and hot, and a new terrace menu that one reviewer enjoyed outside. Several call the staff friendly and welcoming, singling out servers who made them feel looked after, and a few describe the pricing as competitive or reasonable, with a two course meal called excellent value. One group of twelve ate in a private room and found it very nice, though that reviewer found the draft beer choice a bit limited. The one real complaint concerns waiting: a Sunday lunch visitor waited for a table, was seated at a high table by the door, and was told an empty regular table was reserved for locals who book it every week. That table then stayed empty for a further half hour after they were seated beside it. Dogs were permitted inside for one family's table, and one evening visitor enjoyed the lady singer.

“Used this as a stop over after holidaying in the Forest of Dean. 4 adults 1 child and 2 dogs. Met by very friendly staff, offered a nice table where the dogs were permitted inside. The staff were great, the landlord (owner) was on site and working, but stopped and came over to assist when needed. Atmosphere was really good as all the staff were happy to talk and were attentive. The food choice is really good and prices were really competitive, then the food. The scirracha chicken starter. Mmmmm so good. Then the Welsh faggots were so tasty. All food presented well and hot, as well as very good. I’d recommend this place for a lunch time stop. I will probably go back, even though it’s 240 miles away. Next time I’m in the area maybe.”
