About Page's Fish & Chips
Page's Fish & Chips is a fish and chip takeaway on Woodside Rd in Cwmbran, with a restaurant of more than 90 seats for those who would rather eat in. The kitchen keeps a gluten-free line for coeliacs, including a large gluten-free cod and battered sausage, with separate gluten-free salt and sugar kept apart to avoid contamination. Chips come with curry sauce or gravy. The menu runs wider than the usual takeaway range and includes swordfish. The shop is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays. Parking nearby is limited, and spaces are often all taken.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips draw the most comment, with praise for real chips rather than extruded frozen ones, food that arrives hot, and huge portions. An extensive menu that includes swordfish also gets a mention, and several reviewers call the staff friendly, helpful and lovely. Gluten free orders split opinion. One diner with celiac disease praises the battered sausage and battered chicken breast and notes the gluten free salt and sugar kept out contamination. Others say the food has gone downhill. Several complain about a shockingly small piece of fish on a large gluten free cod, and one describes a small chewy piece of cod with soggy chips and a battered sausage that was pink and lukewarm. Another found bones in the fish. A few say portions have shrunk while prices have risen. Even so, one reviewer whose delivery arrived with items missing says staff apologised, remade the food fresh and delivered it personally.

“A very extensive menu, including swordfish, and not at an extortionate cost. We had fish and chips, excellent, the chips were real chips and not those days extruded frozen ones that everyone seems to be doing these days Staff were really friendly and helpful. My only slight negative was the limited parking, lots of spaces but all taken, I suppose that demonstrates how popular it is.”

“Shockingly small piece of fish for a large gluten free cod and chips, would have attached a picture but I was so hungry I didn't think to. Portion size of fish has gone down while price has increased. Will be making my own from now on. Disappointing because I really do enjoy the food and atmosphere there but its not worth £11.50”

“Food is always perfect and always hot when it arrives. Ordered food for delivery and had part of my order missing this evening and called up and spoke to one of the staff who was really helpful and apologetic that this had happened and fair play to them they made the missing items fresh for me and personally delivered them to me. When they arrived they were again extremely apologetic. 10/10 service!”

“Went to pages last night. Dont get me wrong the staff are lovely but the food has gone down hill. I paid £27 for for two fish and chips. A curry sauce. Gravy and a bottle of coke. The fish had bones in it. Wasnt very big at all. And what I would class as a small chips. If only I could show ypu how nasty the under side of the fish was. Def not the best chipshop in the area any more”
