About Costero Lounge
Costero Lounge is a restaurant in Paignton, set at the Festival Theatre. The kitchen serves tapas plates, including a bao bun and prawns, and the drinks list carries cocktails such as a raspberry mojito. A dedicated gluten free and vegan menu sits alongside the main one, so guests with those requirements have their own set of dishes to choose from. The lounge also caters for mixed groups of ages: board games are on hand for children and adults, toys are set out for the youngest visitors, and dogs are welcome inside with refreshments of their own. Guests order from the table through the app, and the team brings food and drinks out to them.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to fast, friendly table service and the option to order from the table or app, which one diner calls great for a solo visit and another found easier on a busy Friday evening. Drinks and food arrived quickly in those accounts. Close behind is the food itself, with the chicken bacon salad, chips and calamari, and gluten free options singled out, and a breakfast stop also mentioned. Dogs being allowed gets a mention too. The caveats are mixed. One diner found the Louisianna chicken dry with oversized coleslaw cabbage, another called the dandan noodles abysmal, with burnt fried chicken and only the tenderstem broccoli stem, and a kids' grilled herb chicken came in a gloopy sauce. Value draws complaints as well: a tapas spread of one bao bun, four onion rings and five small prawns was called stingy, and salty bacon and chips left one visitor disappointed. One reviewer who told a server the noodles were awful got only an "oh, ok" in reply.

“Ate here twice during a 3 day stay 1st time tried the Louisianna chicken and didn't like it. The chicken was dry and it was like seasoning had just been sprinkled on top once fried. Didn't rate the coleslaw either cabbage pieces way too big! Then I decided to give another go and went for chicken bacon salad and I really enjoyed it could have had a little bit more sauce but they will give you extra if you ask. Cocktails same deal just over 13 for 2. I had raspberry mojito and they were nice enough. Love the fact that dogs are allowed in there! Atmosphere was nice and welcoming. Cleaning turnaround could be better but its expected when busy and nothing that put me off eating there! Will bring my dog next time!”

“We only popped in to use the facilities and ended up buying a drink. The young lady that served us twice was absolutely fantastic. A breath of fresh air. Made us feel happy and made our day. If you are visiting Paignton definitely come here for a chill or a bit to eat. Brilliant place. Will highly recommend. To the young lady who served us 23rd August. You were a delight.”

“Visited on monday, for the first and last time. My son chose the grilled herb chicken from the kids menu- it came covered in a gloopy almost minty sauce so didn't eat it. I ordered the dandan noodles, absolutely abysmal. Burnt fried chicken on top that I could have broken a tooth on, way too much of a sour coconut sauce and when they said "tenderstem broccoli" I expected to get a bit more than the literal stem that would normally go in the bin. I told the lad serving it was awful when he asked if we were done and he just said "oh, ok" and walked off.”

“1st time visit here one of our many trips to paignton so thought it was time we tried the lounge. Not being particularly hungry we both ordered a toasted sandwich and a bowl of chips. Was disappointed to say the least with the value for money regarding the bowl of chips. Sandwich although nice the bacon was very salted to almost the point I left mine chips also very salty. Decor lovely ,very relaxing atmosphere and excellent attentive and friendly staff . Would like to visit again but maybe try another option”

“Excellent food and most importantly fast and easy service. The ladies working at this restaurant were very polite and looked genuinely happy to help - which is not so common anymore. Food came quick, you could taste the freshness and the flavour. We have visited a couple of Cafe Bar restaurant and they never disappoint.”
