About Angrid Thai
Angrid Thai is a Thai restaurant at 36 George St in Gloucester Green, central Oxford. Hainan chicken rice is served on Thursdays only, and it comes with chicken soup alongside, so that day has a dish the rest of the week does not. The rest of the menu leans on noodles and curries. Suki-Yaki noodles are a regular order, and duck red curry sits among the curry choices. Soup also accompanies other plates, including a Yen Tah Fu soup. Drinks include iced teas, with a coffee flavour among them.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are specific. One reviewer says takeaway spicy Thai noodles arrived full of chopped red chilies and seeds, leaving them inedible and causing stomach pain. Another found the chicken in the soup and fried rice smelly and seemingly undercooked, and felt pressured by a waiter to order more. A delivery diner found a large piece of eggshell in an otherwise tasty meal. One reviewer notes a charge for a takeaway container when taking home leftovers from a dine-in meal, which they call fair for an independent restaurant.

“A place with an amazing atmosphere, unforgettable food and excellent service. It’ll be my go-to spot for lunch every Tuesday! Not to mention the gorgeous waitress they have – I should have asked her name! 😍”

“I tried the chicken soup and the chicken fried rice. The soup itself tasted good, but the chicken had a strong smell and seemed undercooked, which made it difficult to eat. The chicken fried rice also had an unpleasant smell. The waiter kept encouraging me to order more food even though I only wanted one item, which made me feel uncomfortable. I’ve had much better Thai food elsewhere. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience for me.”

“😡I went there today around 9:30 pm they said only takeaways, I ordered spicy Thai Noodles, which Is my usual order. My Spice tolerance is Very good. the noodles they packed me was absolutely inedible. It was full of chopped red chilies and less of noodles. I am completely disappointed and upset because that was supposed to be my first proper meal of the day after a long day of seeing patients . And I couldn’t eat it, instead it burned my throat and stomach so much that I couldn’t sleep because of the pain. In the picture it is not very clear but it was all chilli bits. (I tried to put aside the bigger bits but the chilli seeds were so much that it was impossible to separate and eat). If its near closing time, just dont take the orders! Why would you make food which cant be eaten! How do you plan to compensate this? I used to be a regular customer there but I am absolutely disappointed.”

“This place has been my go to Thai restaurant in Oxford, great food, fair price and good portion sizes. Also, great location in central Oxford whilst tucked in Gloucester Green in comparison to other chain Thai places in George Street. It doesn’t disappoint, would highly recommend. One thing to also note, they do charge you 50p for a take away container if you eat in and decide to take food away, which to me is fair enough being an independent local restaurant.”
