Customer Review Summary

The steak pie is the dish diners name most, described as full of beef with a lovely pastry crust and served with mashed potatoes, and one group called it the best meal of their Scotland trip. Close behind are the desserts, the sticky toffee pudding and the speculoos cheesecake, along with the seafood chowder, the hot and cold smoked salmon plate and a haggis and tattie Scottish breakfast. Several came back for breakfast after dinner, and reviewers praise the vegan and gluten free options and a good local stout. The complaints concern portions and pace. One diner found the portions small and the fish pie scarce on fish, with about three small prawns, while others noted slow breakfast service and long gaps between drink refills on a busy evening. Several walked in without a booking and were seated. One diner who cannot eat batter asked for breaded fish, which was not on the menu, and the chef made the breadcrumb mix himself.

“I decided on two starters - seafood chowder and hot & cold smoked salmon plate. I ordered the pinot noir because it was Romanian. It was very drinkable. My husband had the steak pie with mashed potatoes. It was full of beef and the pastry crust was lovely. Callie, our server was helpful, friendly and professional.”

“Lovely restaurant in Oban with a Hidden Steakhouse bar through the back. Hadnt booked a table for 2 but staff were very welcoming and attentive. Offered seating thro at the bar area which was lovely to wait on available table . Food was very good and great to see young people working efficiently and enjoying sharing their hospitality skills . Def worth a visit ! Very popular and busy from breakfast to dinner .”

“We had dinner here on our first evening in Oban. As it was getting rather late, most places we passed by stopped serving food, but Cuan Mor was still open for business after 8PM. We had the panko seabass fillet served with a potato salad and the Cuan Mor fish pie. While the food was tasty, the portions seemed rather small and the fish pie could have used more fish, it was quite scarce, with three small prawns at best. I really enjoyed dessert - the speculoos cheesecake is really tasty. Good local stout as well, nice atmosphere and friendly service.”

“Absolutely amazing,i requested breaded fish as i cannot have batter, and the chef was very obliging although breaded was not on the menu! I was impressed at that but when the food came out we were blown away,it looked and tasted exceptional,he had obviously taken the time to prepare the breadcrumb mix himself. You have to visit it is exceptional.Thank you”

“Came here for dinner because I saw that they had vegan options and it was so delicious that I returned for breakfast the next day. Everything was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Service during dinner was good while service at breakfast was a bit slow as the staff were very busy.”
