  “I tried taquero when it first opened in Nottingham and I was left feeling slightly underwhelmed with the food, HOWEVER I decided to give it a second chance last week after seeing and hearing so many good things about it since. And I’m so very glad I did, the menu had grown in size from my memory and the options were a lot more varied. The Chicharrón is absolutely to die for and cooked expertly, steak tacos were very well cooked and melted in your mouth. I had the maya and the verde salsas with some nachos and both were very tasty, the spice from the habanero in the maya was perfect and matched the mango very well. All washed down with a pint of modelo which by the way usually isn’t that great on draught in England but it was fizzy, good taste and ice cold. It is slightly on the pricier side however I do understand how difficult businesses have it at the minute thanks to our government. I will be revisiting again to try out some more of the items that I wasn’t able to try on the menu!”

  “Phenomenal food. This was my third visit and it definitely won’t be my last. The birria tacos were incredible, and the corn, potatoes and tortilla chips were all spot on. Everything was full of flavour, fresh and cooked perfectly. Highly recommend!”

  “Nice seating and atmosphere inside and out. Service quick and smooth. Tacos were tasty but could’ve done with potentially more salt. Portion smaller than I would’ve liked for value of money. Overall, would recommend for Mexican cuisine.”

  “We had a selection of small plates at Taquero, and everything was fresh and well made. The hispa cabbage was the best dish for me. It had great flavour and was cooked really well.The outdoor seating area is comfortable and a nice place to sit. Overall, Taquero is a good spot for relaxed food and a pleasant atmosphere. The cocktails were very nice too.”

  “As a Mexican, as soon as I tried the salsas with totopos, I knew this place was highly authentic! The restaurant is super clean, the atmosphere is great, and the service was amazing. I ordered a clamato drink, but when it arrived, it looked like it was missing. When I mentioned it to the bartender, he said, "Oh yeah, the clamato is at the bottom..." I bet he didn’t expect me to actually know what a clamato is! 🤭 They sorted it out quickly, though, and the drink was incredible taste just like home. Hands down the best Birria tacos, and OMG, the esquites were WOW! We will definitely be back. Thanks for bringing a piece of Mexico here! 🫶❤️”

  “The food was good but too salty for me especially the taco. The portion is small while the price is expensive (probably the quality of the ingredients). The environment, the vibe is nice to sit hang out with friends or date.”

  “We’ve been here a few times now and truly love the food, decor and the service, can’t fault it. It’s just a tad too expensive for tacos, we say it every time we come, £60 for 4 tacos and 2 soft drinks is a lot compared to other places to eat. The fact you can’t book either is a shame because we would bring our friends here but don’t want to get into town to find out we can’t get in.”

  “Great place lovely atmosphere music's always on point service is really good you don't have to wait long for your food. The pricing is pretty decent you get two tacos so you could easily have everything off the menu and get to try each one individually. Obviously the birria tacos are king”

  “Taquero is honestly my favourite restaurant in Notts, but today's lunch menu was just incredible. Service was so quick and the food was amazing. The special Lamb Quesadillas was something special indeed. You need to put it on the permanent menu!”

  “I'd heard good things about this place, I found it to be ok. It was very popular on the Tuesday night I tried it. No reservations which was unfortunate, we waited about 45 minutes to get a free table at around 7pm. It's pricey and you need at least 3 dishes to feel kinda full. The jalapeno cheese things were good but there just wasn't much jalapeno. The sauce below it was a nice touch. The potatoes were not bad, also a nice green sauce below them and had a nice cheese sprinkled on it. The fish tacos were disappointing. The seasoning just wasn't great, really could have just done with more salt. The texture of the batter was odd. The beef tacos were good but very very cheesy and rich. I tried some of the cactus tacos, the cactus batter was overpowering such that you couldn't taste the cactus. The bill had an extra £1 added for a dementia charity and a 10% service charge. Think of that what you will. I wouldn't come here for dinner again, too pricey and not good enough to justify it.”
