On Trinity Sq in Nottingham, Nōshi Restaurants combines a Chinese and Japanese menu with a cocktail bar, set in a dining room reached by stairs or a lift, with blossom hanging from the ceiling. The menu splits into small plates and large plates, with sides ordered separately, and bao buns feature among the smaller dishes alongside duck and egg fried rice. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers consistently center their praise on Nōshi's decor, from the cherry blossom hanging over the ceiling to the "film set" first-floor room, and most describe feeling instantly transported by the space. Close behind, the cocktails draw repeated attention, called superb and incredible by several diners, though one reviewer was told a menu cocktail simply wasn't available. Among dishes, the sticky beef short rib bao buns and salt and pepper baby squid earn specific praise, while the duck and egg fried rice splits opinion, some finding it flavourful, others describing it as greasy. Price is the clearest recurring caveat: bills around £114 to £150 for two are repeatedly flagged as steep for small portions, and one diner sent back a £29 sirloin steak for being served at the wrong temperature before staff swapped the dish. A single reviewer went further, calling the duck rice and a sweet and sour chicken dish inedible and overpriced. Several visits close on a personal touch, including a complimentary birthday plate and, on another occasion, a brownie brought out with a sparkler.

“Beautiful venue, delicious food, and a lovely experience. I visited NOSHI in Nottingham yesterday with a friend, and I wasn't expecting it to be quite so elegant. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, with stunning pink blossom hanging from the ceiling, black décor, and a stylish atmosphere that makes you feel a little bit special from the moment you walk in. The food exceeded my expectations. The modern Japanese and Chinese dishes were absolutely delicious, and everything we ordered was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was a little slow, but the staff were attentive, well-presented, polite, friendly, and even had a good sense of humour. The only small thing I'd mention is that they seemed to be in a bit of a rush when pouring water, and it was spilled a few times. Nothing major, just something they could improve. It is definitely on the expensive side. For two starters, two sides, two mains, two cocktails, and water, the bill came to nearly £140. The portions are quite small for the price, but the quality of the food makes it worth treating yourself every now and then. Despite the portion sizes, I was pleasantly full and even left most of my bowl of rice. Overall, a lovely place with fantastic food and a great atmosphere. I'd happily return for another special occasion.”

“Very good food in a great location, with decor and food to match. The staff are very attentive and make you feel valued at all times. Great for a quick bite or a special occasion.”

“My daughter and I visited here a couple of weeks ago prior to visiting the theatre, which is just a short stroll away. From the initial greeting and throughout, the service was impeccable. Julia was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Such a pretty and beautiful decor. So food, we went with small plates to share. We had chicken satay skewers, perfectly cooked with a lovely charred flavour and the satay sauce was really flavoursome. Salt and pepper baby squid, again really tasty and perfectly cooked. Pink tempura shrimp, crisp lightly battered shrimp with a lovely dressing with a nice kick to it. Duck and egg fried rice, again a great dish, with small pieces of duck throughout. The only dish which I had an issue with was the Thai beef salad, beef cooked really well, but I am one of those people that has the coriander hating gene so only had one mouthful. This is a personal taste thing so I cannot mark it down. My daughter however really enjoyed it but she did say it is heavy with coriander The portions we found to be generous, perfect service and a great ambience and setting. We will be back”

“Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the food. The food portion was massive for the big plates. The sides were pretty big too so we could have definitely shared. Prices are a bit steep but the portions are big. Some of the smaller plates …”

“A true fine dining experience with beautifully presented dishes, cooked to perfection and bursting with incredible flavours. Although the menu was quite limited, every item felt carefully curated and executed with exceptional attention to detail. The decor was absolutely lovely — elegant, stylish, and created a warm, relaxing atmosphere that made the evening feel extra special. A special mention to AJ, who served us throughout the evening and was absolutely excellent — attentive, professional, friendly, and made the whole experience feel even more welcoming and enjoyable. The only drawback was the pricing, as it is definitely on the expensive side for the quantity and limited selection available. However, the quality of the food, presentation, decor, and service certainly made it a memorable dining experience worth trying for a special occasion.”
