Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on King Cod, and the pie and chips draw the most complaints. Several describe a pie crust so hard it nearly broke a tooth, or pastry left uncooked underneath, and chips that were rubbery, anaemic or tasting of cooking oil. At least three say the meal went in the bin. One also found the sausage had an odd taste, another the mushy peas not mushy, and one reports staff handling cooked fish with bare hands. Others describe a different experience. Fish and chips earns the praise, with one reviewer calling the cod and batter great and the chips just right, though the batter slid off when the fish was turned. A regular gets the kebab meat, chips and burger deal from the front window and has always enjoyed it. Another likes the doner wrap and chips for the price and calls the service friendly, while several mention good value and helpful staff. One reviewer who tried to pay found only cash or bank transfer accepted, and cancelled the order.

“Hard to rate service and atmosphere on a delivery but the food was well below standard. Anaemic, flavourless chips. "Mushy peas" that weren't even mushy (and had some hard bits in?) The only thing that was remotely passable was the fishcake but it's a low bar and I'd only give it a 4/10 at best. Very disappointed and wouldn't order here again or advise anyone else to. Lots of better chippies in the area - Humber Rd or Cods Scallops.”

“Very expensive large fish and chips. As hungry and short of time, I placed my order anyway. When I came to pay found out they only accept cash or bank transfer! Disappointed, I cancelled, but think it may have been a lucky escape as they were handling cooked fish using bare hands.”

“Very disappointed! Pie and chips went in the bin after a couple of bites. The crust on the pie nearly broke my teeth it was so hard and meat inside looked burnt. Chips were like rubber, possibly reheats with a funny taste. I definitely won't be going back here again!”

“I've been coming here for a long time, I usually get one of the deals off from the front window, kebab meat, chips and a burger. Although I have had most of the other food and I've always enjoyed my food and the service from King Cod.”

“Yesterday after work in the evening I went to get fish and chips and it was excellent customer service and with care and the staff was so good to me and I will love to go there again”
