About Kellari Greek Restaurant

Kellari Greek Restaurant is a Greek restaurant at 132 Wollaton Rd in Nottingham, open Wednesday to Saturday evenings only and closed Sunday to Tuesday. That schedule makes it a dinner stop for the second half of the week. The starters include Grandma's aubergine, which is also served with beef, and warm pita bread comes with dips. The mixed grill for two puts meat and chips on one order, so a pair can share a main. Moussaka is on the menu for anyone who wants a classic Greek main. The kitchen also cooks vegan and vegetarian dishes.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often come for the mixed grill for two, with several describing juicy, soft meat and chips that were not greasy. One reviewer found it a messy pile of chips with the meat on top and barely any salad, and another would add a bit of salad. Stuffed mushrooms with halloumi come close behind, along with meatballs and the aubergine with beef as starters. Creamy chicken with mushroom sauce, chicken souvlaki, beef stiffado, kleftiko and imam bayildi also draw praise. Service is repeatedly called friendly, kind and helpful, and the atmosphere cozy and welcoming. The complaints are practical. One reviewer describes a long wait for mains with no communication and a small portion of fried halloumi. Another was told a platter item, the vegetable moussaka and the coffee machine were unavailable, and got instant coffee instead. Even so, the waiter offered an alternative vegetarian dish, and the coffee came with a fresh homemade biscuit.

“Saw multiple positive recommendations online and thought we would give it a go, but unfortunately left pretty disappointed. I understand it was a Saturday so wait times can be longer, however with no communication, waiting over an hour for our mains was unacceptable. We started with the fried halloumi which took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. It did taste good, but the portion size was really poor, £8 for just 4 small pieces each didn’t feel worth it. For mains we ordered the mixed grill for 2 (£45) expecting better value for money, but it ended up being a messy pile of chips with the meat placed on top and barely any salad. It didn’t feel well put together and definitely didn’t justify the price, and overall the long wait times, portion sizes and presentation made the experience quite disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend for a proper meal based on this visit.”

“We came here (4 of us) for an early Sunday dinner and ordered the meat grill and meat mezze. The food was delicious, exceeding all our expectations, and the overall experience was very pleasant! Our waiter was very friendly, kind and helpful (I'm sorry I didn't catch his name). My only regret is that we didn't save room for dessert, which I'm sure would have been equally delicious. We will definitely come again.”

“Starting from the staff - service very good - impressive. The waiter really polite, helpful and quick service. We had 2 x platters for2 with dips but (as informed) one item wasnt available and didnt have alternative. Food very nice, cheese balls - high quality - not greasy at all. Same calamari. Grandma's aubergine with beef nice. We had : creamy chicken with mushroom sauce - excellent 10/10. Mix grill platter for 2 - brilliant 👏 [although I would add a bit of salad] chips not greasy at all, meat was juice and soft - lovely. Aubergine with halloumi - was ok, And chicken souvlaki with chips - 10/10. When we ordered vegetable moussaka- we were informed that is not available but the waiter gave us alternative vegetarian option - so we were happy with that. We asked for coffee and got information that currently there is no coffee machine and we can get instead americano (black or white). When we ordered 4, the waiter served us instant coffee - although with fresh, homemade biscuit. It was disappointing as after a really nice meal, we were expecting a nice coffee. Authentic, cozy and pleasant atmosphere. From the moment we stepped inside we felt comfortable and very welcomed.”

“Absolutely amazing service, especially Vas our waiter! Went out of their way for us and made sure we were happy and satisfied with everything. The food was brilliant and authentic and the restaurant was lovely and clean, great atmosphere too. We came as a family for my birthday and they made sure we had a good table and enough space for ourselves and the pushchair for the baby too. It was my first time going and will definately be coming again, and my family have now become regulars☺️🥰 Yamas! X”

“This is a brilliant restaurant serving Greek cuisine. The food was excellent served hot, tasted great, the meats were not dry and it was a good portion for the price paid. This was the second time visiting this place, and both times we have been very impressed. We have tried the stuffed mushrooms starter (highly recommended), the mixed grill for two people (again amazing!), the Moussaka and Kleftiko. Honestly highly recommended for anyone looking for somewhere new! Not a negative point, but certinley something which would improve the menu, is about the Mixed Grill for 2 people. It would be better if you offered a mixed grill for 1 person, as there is nothing similar, and limits the options available to customers.”
