Customer Review Summary
Reviewers overwhelmingly come for the seafood boil, describing it as jam packed, cooked perfectly and easily enough for two, with one party ordering two boils, one with cream and one without. A lobster boil also gets praise. Close behind are the sides and starters, including jollof rice, sesame prawn toast, fried rice, plantain, sweet potato fries, spring rolls, shrimp pasta and wings, plus a steak one regular calls cooked perfectly. Several mention the friendly, welcoming staff, and one says the restaurant provides aprons and gloves for the boil. Cocktails are called gorgeous and strong, and a few diners chose the downstairs space for something more private. Reviewers rate the value highly. One reviewer who visits weekly says the staff know their usual order and suggest new dishes. No recurring complaint appears, and one reviewer says they could not fault anything. Several visits were birthday celebrations, and one group was surprised with a slice of cake brought out for the friend.

“Absolutely incredible food! We had the sesame prawn toast appetiser, seafood boil and some jollof rice... wow! The flavours were incredible, everything was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes are very good. The restaurant even provide aprons and gloves - how kind! We also had a positive experience with waiting times, especially as the boil is cooked fresh. Really enjoyed our first visit here on Monday and we will definitely be back. Price wise, we had 3 bottles of Desparados, 2 sprites, and the above food all for under £80, which I think is excellent value for such an indulgent meal. I highly recommend this genuine hidden gem in Newcastle City Centre.”

“Service from some staff was great which good chat and advice on the food. Lovely food and a good menu with the right amount of offerings - they do something well, instead of over catering and just doing it okay. Certainly will go back”
