About Miller & Carter Newcastle

Miller & Carter Newcastle is a steak house in the city centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne, at 26 Mosley St. The kitchen cooks hand-cut steaks, including a Wagyu ribeye, and serves them with a steak sauce made with beef dripping. A three-course set menu covers a starter, a main and a dessert, and a lunchtime special runs alongside it. The brownie is one of the dessert choices. Servers walk guests through the menu and explain the steaks and sauces before they order. Reservations are required. A multi-storey car park sits a few minutes' walk away.

Customer Review Summary

Steak is the draw, with diners praising the fillet and a Wagyu ribeye cooked medium, and several returning for the beef dripping steak sauce. Close behind are the starters and desserts: Yorkshire puddings with beef, burrata, lobster mac and cheese, crème brûlée, profiteroles and chocolate brownie. Servers earn repeated praise as excellent, lovely, chatty and kind, with several walking diners through the menu and one accommodating an intolerance. Anniversaries and birthdays come up several times, and a three course set menu and a lunch special for a group of seven are both called good. The caveat is the accompaniments. One reviewer found the sides only ok, calling the lettuce wedge and onion loaf odd and the tomato beside the steak rock hard, and describing the fries, steak sauce and sticky toffee pudding as nice but nothing special. One diner describes a server steering a first-time steak eater from well done to medium, and both diners cleared their plates.

“Marcus was absolutely amazing, listened to my intolerance and suggested/accommodated accordingly! You should be proud to have someone as kind and understanding as him, thank you and will be back soon. Food was amazing as usual, beef dripping sauce always gets me coming back”

“We booked here for our wedding anniversary, as my other half loves her streaks. We went for the 3 course special, starter, main and dessert. We had three Yorkshire puddings with beef, so tasty and the chipotle chicken. Mains I went for the Waygu Ribeye medium done, so so nice, with gravy and fries. My wife got the normal Ribeye, well done, sacrilege. Dessert was the chocolate brownie and lemon cake. All in all, we'll be going back on a more regular basis. Great city centre location and only a few minutes walk from the multi storey car park.”
