About The Balti Masters

Trading since 1999, The Balti Masters is an Indian takeaway on Halewood Avenue in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The menu runs across two formats, with curries on one side and pizzas on the other. On the curry side, the Balti naanbab sits alongside chicken tikka masala. The kitchen also brings the two formats together in a tikka masala pizza, which puts a curry flavour on a pizza base for anyone who wants both in one order.

Customer Review Summary

Reviews split sharply, and the naanbab is the item raised most, mostly in complaints. Two diners describe the balti naanbab as off, one citing a garlic sauce like glue and greasy, inedible meat, another a masala naanbab that tasted prepared days earlier with the sauce dried into the bread. Praise centers on the other side of the menu: a large group found the starters, mains and sides all great and arriving on time, and a repeat customer calls the wraps unreal, with hot food, plentiful portions and a good range of pizzas. Another enjoyed a bbq chicken tikka nan with garlic roasties, and left with leftovers. Other complaints are about bland curries, including a vindaloo with five tiny cubes of chicken and no coriander, and a tikka masala pizza that was greasy and cold with undercooked meat. Delivery problems recur too: an hour and a half wait, a burnt parmo base, a missing chicken corma and poppadoms, and an order delivered the next day with no refund offered.

“Took an order when open, waited an hour , rang multiple times , didn't deliver it , delivered it around 5:45pm the next day when I wasn't in , delivered it to my daughter. Called them told them I didn't want it and was expecting the refund from the night before , they said it was a pre order since it was 1 minute after the machine went off .. no option of cancelling. Told them they could come pick the food back up but refused.. don't waste your time”

“I normally order from the Pizza Masters branch in Gateshead and have never had an issue, but I decided to try this Kenton branch via Just Eat because of some offers. I was extremely disappointed and regret the switch. Firstly, the delivery took an hour and a half from the time of ordering. When the food finally arrived, the quality was nowhere near the standard of the Gateshead branch. I ordered the Balti nanbab and a Hotshot parmo. The taste of the nanbab was completely off, and worse, the chicken base on the parmo was burnt. The food quality here is just not the same. I highly suggest avoiding this specific branch and ordering from the Gateshead one instead.”

“Do not recommend ordering from here, my partner ended up with food poisoning from the chicken tikka masala and chicken korma, chicken was undercooked. Absolutely disgusting”

“I won't be ordering from here again, I got the chicken vindaloo, I don't think the chef knows how to prepare one, tasteless, 5 tiny cubes of chicken, 0 coriander, looked like just a carton of sauce when I opened it. My wife's masala naanbab was disgusting, looked and tasted like it was prepared 2 says prior, all the masala sauce was dried into the bread. Not even their 50% off would entice me back”
