About Namaste Indian Restaurant and Club Prosecco Lounge
Namaste Indian Restaurant and Club Prosecco Lounge is an Indian restaurant on Sunniside in Gateshead, with a Prosecco lounge attached. The menu runs to 167 dishes, and a separate vegetarian menu sits alongside the meat dishes. Murgh Tikka Chaat works as a starter, and Naram Lamb Chops are among the mains. Garlic and Peshwari naan are on the bread list. A set deal pairs a starter and a main curry with rice or chips and a tea or coffee. The lounge pours Prosecco and wine, with drinks on draught and in bottles. A lounge singer performs there, and bottles of bubbles come out with a sparkler attached, or with one added for a birthday.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, attentive staff are what reviewers mention most, and the food backs it up: diners single out the lamb chops, the butter chicken and the tikka meats, with the naan and other breads also praised as excellent. One reviewer calls the dansak the best in over a decade and a half, and another praises the vegetarian menu and the recommendations offered for vegetarians and vegans. Drinks get credit too, including the Prosecco and the terrace, and a couple of birthday and celebration bottles arrived with a sparkler. Reviewers describe the prices as affordable, though one finds them medium to high. The main complaint is noise. One diner found the music from a speaker above the table so loud they asked for it turned down, and could not hold a conversation, while another did not enjoy the lounge singer. The same diner called the mains very average, with overcooked chicken in the Chicken Korai and a table too small for the bowls and plates. Another reviewer had to chase drinks on a busy Saturday.

“Really nice food and service. Not quite up with the best in and around Newcastle, but very good. The tikka meats are excellent and the breads are exceptionally good. Great service but prices are medium to high. We keep going back as much easier to get to than city centre and lots of parking!”

“A hidden jem in full sight on the A692 out of Lobley Hill towards Sunniside. We have been to many Indian restaurants but this one is outstanding. Attentive staff, prompt service and reasonable prices make this place a must go to. Enjoy your meal, we did.”

“Arrived and a polite gentleman showed us to our table but that’s where the good service ended. The first thing we noticed was the level of noise was ridiculously loud and we had to ask for the music from a speaker directly above our table to be turned down..A young man came to take our drinks order without any pleasantries or a smile and then we ordered food. We ordered some popadoms with three very small bowls of pickles which we could only identify one being Mango Chutney. We ordered the Namaste Sea Bass with King Prawns, Namaste King Prawn Curry, Butter Chicken and a Chicken Korai two rice and a garlic nan and a Peshwari Nan. We finished the popadoms but majority of the pickles went back as they were nothing special. The main courses were served by a strange behavioural young man who only brought out one main course then stood next to the table swinging two napkins which he kept dropping. He stood for a good 5 minutes before he set off to get the rest of the meals. The meals were served in a bowl on top of a plate which you were supposed to serve your main with the rice on to the plate to eat. However the table was so small that this couldn’t be done as there was simply no space to put everything. The main courses were very average and the chicken in the chicken Korai was overcooked and not much chicken in the dish. The noise was so loud we could not share any dinner conversation and asked when we finished our meal could we sit back through the bar area and pay for our meal through there. The host said certainly as it will only get louder when more drink sets in. We left to go to another bar for a drink as the ambiance in the restaurant was terrible as you could tell by some other customers faces. Unfortunately the noise levels at the restaurant was not the fault of the restaurant as there were two tables of woman screeching at each other rather than talking which was ruining most people’s evening”
