About Two By Two Brewery and Tap Room
Two By Two Brewery and Tap Room is a brewery at Unit 8 on an industrial estate in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne, with its taproom inside the working brewery and the tanks in view. About eight keg lines and two cask lines pour mostly its own beers, and a fridge holds cans of its own beer alongside a few from other breweries. Seating is on wooden benches and pallet furniture. A ping-pong table, pool and board games share the space, and live bands, DJs and events are held in the taproom. Flankman, a resident Mexican street food truck, serves tacos and loaded fries, while scotch eggs, pork pies and crisps are sold at the bar. The taproom is open Thursday to Sunday and closed Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the truck serves on those same open days. Free on-street parking sits outside, and the metro is under a ten-minute walk.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come first for the brewery's own beer, with around eight keg lines and two cask pours, including a pale and a lean toward juicy beers. One visitor calls it the best beer in England and looks forward to the mini kegs returning for Christmas. Close behind is live music, with a band's set praised for surprisingly pleasing acoustics, and a DJ on another visit. Food gets mentions too: pork tacos from the resident truck, plus gourmet scotch eggs and pork pies. Seating is wooden benches and pallet furniture, inside and under a canopy outside, with ping-pong, pool, board games and regular dogs. Several praise the welcoming team and the clean toilets. The complaints are small. One reviewer would like a guest beer or two, found no prices on the can fridge, and thought small bottled soft drinks were expensive, while another says to bring thermals outside the summer months. Regulars also remember the two tip jars on the bar, each posing a would you rather question.

“Love this place and its location keeps it away from being overcrowded. Love the pallet furniture. Decent selection of own brews on the taps including cask. Large outdoor seating area, so specially on a nice sunny day it's really nice here. Great place to pop in and out of between Grove bands!”

“Visited in September 2025. My first time here, and a great place indeed. Good variety of beers, including a couple of nice cask options. Seemed to be mostly focused on juicy beers. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and there was even a food truck on site. They also have a ping‑pong table, which adds a fun touch to the place. I’ll definitely re‑visit the next time I’m in Newcastle.”

“My home away from home. This place is just wonderful, big brewery, lots of seating and choices of drinks and even bored games and pool, and that’s on a quiet day! They put on live bands and events, there’s always a few people bringing in their dogs (so bonus points for cute fluffy customers woohooo!) The team are just lovely, I’ve always felt so welcome here, it’s a great spot to meet mates for a drink and a catchup I have to add, they hosted my friends wedding last summer and it was absolutely amazing! And the tip jars, oh boy, there are two glasses on the bar in a “would you rather” question style, and some of those have lived rent free in my head for a long time!”

“Simply the best beer in England🍺 We’re really looking forward to the mini kegs returning for Christmas — nothing quite compares to that flavour! The new tacos are absolutely fantastic too, especially the pork ones. Highly recommended! 🌮”
