Customer Review Summary
Sushi is the draw, with reviewers praising the platters and a sashimi set as filling and fresh, and describing the presentation as stunning, including the colourful tobiko topping on the rolls. Close behind are the tempura prawn and crab sushi, a spicy tuna temaki, the chef's surprise, and cocktails described as to die for. Staff are called lovely, friendly and attentive, and the cozy room with cherry blossom branches draws praise, though one reviewer calls the trees fake. The criticism centers on fried food and authenticity. One reviewer found the tempura batter thick and bread-heavy, and another who has lived in Japan said the chicken karaage resembled fast food nuggets, the spicy poke bowl was drenched in fake wasabi, and the tempura seemed frozen. A reviewer also reports a strong kitchen odor, with fried oil clinging to hair and clothes, and another says most drinks had artificial sweeteners. One regular phones ahead with a standard order before shows at the Corn Exchange, and the food arrives within seconds of sitting down.

“We stopped by for a bite and stayed for about 40 minutes. Unfortunately, the ventilation or A/C clearly needs attention—there’s a strong kitchen odor inside, and after leaving, my hair and clothes distinctly smelled like fried oil. It would be great if management could get the air filters cleaned and sort out the ventilation. As for the food, the fried dishes were a bit disappointing. The batter was far too thick and bread-heavy, completely overpowering the taste of the actual filling inside.”
